Job Description
🏗️ Traveling Site Manager
Structural Steel | Major Projects Nationwide
💰 $100,000 to $130,000 Base + Per Diem + Paid Travel
This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk.
It isn't a role for someone who needs fifty ironworkers reporting into them to feel important.
And it definitely isn't a role for someone looking to be home every night.
This is for the steel people.
The ones who understand that the difference between a successful project and a disaster often comes down to what happens in the field.
The phone call that gets made early.
The truck that arrives in the right sequence.
The field issue that's solved before it delays the schedule.
The ability to walk onto a jobsite, assess a situation quickly, and bring the right people together to keep things moving.
Because while this business fabricates at scale, much of the erection is delivered through established partners.
That creates a unique opportunity.
They're looking for experienced field professionals to become the company's eyes and ears on major projects across the United States.
Not to run crews.
Not to manage ironworkers.
Not to own the erector's manpower.
But to make sure the steel package is delivered exactly as intended.
🏗️ The Business
This isn't a small regional fabricator.
It's a nationally recognised structural steel business with a reputation for delivering some of the country's most demanding projects.
• Multiple fabrication facilities strategically positioned across the United States
• Significant investment in manufacturing technology and automation
• A strong and diverse backlog across several sectors
• Large scale projects measured in thousands of tons rather than hundreds
• National reach with work spanning coast to coast
• Long standing relationships with leading contractors, erectors, and owners
Their work supports some of the most important developments taking place across the country.
Data centres.
Industrial facilities.
Advanced manufacturing.
Healthcare.
Commercial developments.
Warehousing and distribution.
Large scale projects that leave a lasting impact long after the final piece of steel is erected.
🎯 The Role
Think of this as a traveling fabrication superintendent.
You'll be embedded on major projects, protecting the company's interests from first steel through final punch.
You'll spend your time solving problems.
Coordinating stakeholders.
Managing expectations.
Keeping erection moving.
And making sure the field doesn't become disconnected from the fabrication shop.
You'll attend daily meetings.
Build relationships with General Contractors and erectors.
Coordinate deliveries.
Investigate field concerns.
Determine whether an issue sits with fabrication, erection, design, or site conditions.
Then work with the right people to resolve it.
The best people in this role don't escalate problems.
They solve them.
🔧 What You'll Be Doing
• Travel nationwide to assigned projects
• Attend daily coordination meetings with project stakeholders
• Act as the company's representative in the field
• Coordinate closely with erection partners
• Manage delivery flow and truck sequencing
• Investigate field fit up concerns and installation challenges
• Review drawings and identify practical solutions
• Determine ownership of field issues
• Coordinate fabrication fixes when required
• Communicate effectively with Project Managers and internal teams
• Identify potential delays before they impact the schedule
• Build strong working relationships with GCs, erectors, and owners
• Keep projects moving without unnecessary drama
🚀 Why Join?
Less Crew Pressure
This is an ideal move for an experienced erection superintendent who still enjoys being on site but wants to step away from carrying direct responsibility for manpower, hiring, and day to day labour management.
Strategic Influence
You'll have a genuine impact on project outcomes without spending your evenings dealing with timesheets, staffing shortages, and labour disputes.
Meaningful Projects
This isn't miscellaneous steel.
You'll support major projects measured in thousands of tons.
Assignments can range from shorter duration programmes through to multi year developments, offering variety and long term stability.
Stability
This isn't a replacement hire.
The business continues to invest ahead of demand, strengthening its field presence to support a growing project portfolio.
Strong people are hired when they're available, not simply when problems arise.
Long Term Opportunity
High performers can progress into broader leadership opportunities across field operations, project delivery, and operational management.
