Job Description
Job DescriptionComposite Quality Assurance Inspector
A day in this role
You start your shift reviewing the day’s control plans and priorities. On the floor, you move from cell to cell performing in‑process checks on composite parts, verifying critical dimensions against engineering drawings and IATF 16949 requirements. A caliper click here, a FARO scan there—you capture data precisely, log it in the ERP/QMS, and flag anything that drifts toward tolerance limits.
Before shipments leave, you apply AQL sampling, complete Certificates of Conformance, and compile customer documentation such as material certifications. A supplier lot arrives; you switch to incoming inspection, confirm conformance, and document results. When something’s off, you initiate an Internal Non‑Conformance Report (INCR), segregate suspect material, and coordinate with Quality Engineering and production to drive correction and validation of any rework. Fit checks confirm assemblies play nicely together. Throughout, you help balance final inspection queues, maintain accurate metrics, and support continuous improvement conversations with cross‑functional partners.
What you’ll handle
- Execute in‑process, final, and dimensional inspections to blueprints, specifications, control plans, and IATF 16949 expectations
- Apply AQL sampling for pre‑shipment verification
- Use metrology tools (calipers and related instruments; FARO) for precise measurements
- Prepare Certificates of Conformance and coordinate customer‑required documentation (e.g., material certs)
- Support First Article Inspections and compile PPAP documentation with Quality Engineering
- Conduct incoming inspections for supplier/subcontractor components
- Record and communicate results clearly; escalate issues as needed
- Open INCRs and ensure proper segregation of nonconforming material
- Run fit checks to confirm assembly compatibility
- Assist with sorting, re‑inspection, and validation of reworked items
- Maintain complete, accurate records in ERP and QMS; contribute to quality reporting and metrics
- Help set and manage final inspection priorities with the Quality team
- Keep the workspace clean, safe, and organized; follow procedures, work instructions, and safety policies
