This is a remote position.

Gilmer Independent School District is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to support data‑driven decision‑making across academic, operational, and administrative departments. This role will analyze complex datasets, build predictive models, and deliver actionable insights that strengthen student outcomes, optimize district resources, and improve strategic planning. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with the ability to communicate findings clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

Requirements Key Responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from student information systems, assessments, HR, finance, and operational platforms.
  

• Build predictive models to support enrollment forecasting, student performance trends, staffing needs, and resource allocation.
  

• Develop dashboards and visualizations for district leadership, campus administrators, and instructional teams.
  

• Identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement in academic and operational data.
  

• Collaborate with IT, curriculum teams, and administrative departments to define data requirements and reporting needs.
  

• Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
  

• Present findings and recommendations in clear, accessible formats for decision‑makers.
  

• Support continuous improvement initiatives through data‑driven insights and analytics.
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  

• 1–5+ years of professional experience in data analytics, data science, or statistical modeling.
  

• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  

• Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
  

• Experience working with large, complex datasets.
  

• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science or related field.
  

• Experience working with K–12 education data systems (Skyward, PowerSchool, Eduphoria, etc.).
  

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  

• Knowledge of statistical methods used in education and public‑sector analytics.
  

• Experience developing automated reporting pipelines.
