Property Accountant
Full-Time | Permanent
Dallas, TX | Onsite
Salary: $95,000 – $105,000
Description
Our client is seeking a Property Accountant to take full ownership of financial reporting and the month-end close process for a commercial real estate portfolio. This is a hands-on, high-impact role designed for someone who understands property accounting beyond task execution—someone who can think critically, work independently, and maintain clean, audit-ready financials across multiple entities.
What You’ll Be Doing
-
Lead full-cycle month-end close for an assigned portfolio of properties
-
Perform bank, loan, and intercompany (due-to/due-from) reconciliations
-
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and prepaid amortization
-
Maintain depreciation schedules and track work-in-progress (WIP)
-
Conduct detailed General Ledger (GL) reviews and variance analysis
-
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting
-
Partner with asset management and operations teams to investigate and resolve discrepancies
What You Must Have
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
-
Yardi experience (ideally with Payscan or another comparable real-time AP workflow)
-
3–5+ years of property accounting experience (commercial real estate preferred)
-
Proven ability to independently manage full-cycle month-end close
-
Strong understanding of debits, credits, and journal entries
-
Hands-on experience with:
-
Bank and loan reconciliations
-
Intercompany accounting
-
Accruals, prepaids, and depreciation
-
-
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic financial analysis)
Why Join the Team
This is not a plug-and-play accounting role. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, think critically about financials, and operate with minimal oversight. If you’re looking for a position where your judgment and expertise truly matter, this role offers both autonomy and impact within a fast-paced environment.
Who Will Excel in This Role
-
Professionals who have managed multiple properties or entities simultaneously
-
Self-starters who can identify and resolve accounting discrepancies without constant direction
-
Individuals with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
-
Those who thrive in deadline-driven environments and maintain high attention to detail under pressure
Salary & Perks
-
Salary range: $95,000 – $105,000 (based on experience)
-
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy coverage
-
Paid time off (PTO)
-
10 paid holidays
