Job Description
Senior Project Manager – ERP / Workday Benefits Stabilization
The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and coordinate the resolution of complex benefits-related issues involving enterprise ERP systems, employee and payroll data, system integrations, vendor platforms, and business processes.
This role will manage work across functional, technical, payroll, finance, ERP, business analysis, and third-party vendor teams. The Senior Project Manager will establish accountability, manage dependencies, drive issue resolution, coordinate testing and production deployment, and provide clear executive-level reporting on progress, risks, financial exposure, and unresolved issues.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, hands-on project leader with significant experience managing large-scale programs and business-process initiatives in complex enterprise environments. Experience implementing ERP or Human Capital Management systems is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a centralized backlog of benefits-related issues, including severity, business impact, affected population, ownership, dependencies, target dates, and closure criteria.
- Lead cross-functional teams responsible for resolving complex benefits, payroll, integration, and business-process issues.
- Assign and track action items, accountable owners, dependencies, and completion dates.
- Follow up on missed commitments, remove obstacles, and escalate risks and delays when necessary.
- Develop and maintain an integrated project and stabilization schedule across functional, technical, payroll, finance, and vendor workstreams.
- Lead issue-triage meetings, working sessions, decision meetings, and executive-status reviews.
- Coordinate investigation of ERP configuration, source data, integration logic, transaction processing, vendor systems, and business-process issues.
- Manage dependencies across multiple projects and integrations to prevent conflicting changes or corrective actions.
- Coordinate requirements, test planning, test data, expected results, regression testing, vendor validation, and business acceptance.
- Manage change-control and release-readiness activities across nonproduction and production environments.
- Coordinate production deployments and post-deployment validation.
- Ensure corrected transactions and integrations reconcile appropriately with payroll, benefits, vendor, and financial results.
- Maintain clear meeting documentation including decisions, open questions, assigned actions, responsible parties, and due dates.
- Track project risks, actions, issues, decisions, resource constraints, and unresolved ownership.
- Provide concise executive reporting on issue aging, affected populations, financial exposure, testing progress, blocked decisions, and resolution trends.
- Maintain strong working relationships across executive leadership, business teams, technical teams, and external vendors.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of relevant project management experience coordinating and supporting business processes.
- 3+ years of recent, verifiable project management experience managing large-scale projects or programs.
- 2+ years of experience implementing or supporting an ERP system or enterprise program, preferably involving Human Capital Management.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional projects involving business and technical teams.
- Experience managing schedules, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, deliverables, and executive reporting.
- Experience coordinating requirements, testing, deployment, and production-readiness activities.
- Experience working within a structured SDLC or similar development methodology.
- Experience with project-management tools such as Asana, Microsoft Project, Jira, or comparable platforms.
- Strong executive, business, technical, and vendor communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and follow-through capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- PMP or CAPM certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday or another Human Capital Management ERP platform.
- Experience implementing enterprise HR, payroll, benefits, or human-capital-management processes.
- Experience implementing business processes within a state, local, or other government organization.
- Experience managing complex systems integrations involving internal platforms and third-party vendors.
- Experience with payroll, employee benefits, financial transactions, or vendor reconciliation.
- Experience managing stabilization or remediation efforts following a major enterprise-system implementation.
