The Embedded Software Engineer will design, develop, debug, and maintain firmware for hardware-based systems. This role will collaborate closely with hardware and engineering teams to ensure reliable integration, performance, and functionality of embedded products.

Key Responsibilities
\n
- \n
- Develop embedded firmware using C for microcontroller-based systems.
- Design and maintain bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware.
- Work with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and interrupt-driven architectures.
- Implement and troubleshoot peripherals including DMA, timers, watchdogs, GPIO, UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Develop bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms, including wireless OTA updates.
- Perform low-level debugging using tools such as J-Link, SWD, and GDB.
- Design firmware with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and low-power operation.
- Collaborate with hardware teams on system integration and troubleshooting.

Wireless & Networking Requirements
\n
- \n
- Hands-on experience with wireless embedded systems and communication protocols.
- Experience with Z-Wave, proprietary sub-GHz protocols, mesh networking, or low-power wireless sensor networks.
- Knowledge of RF coexistence and wireless OTA firmware updates.
- Experience with wireless protocol layers, including MAC/PHY-level development or customization, is highly preferred.
- Experience with wireless SDKs and custom protocol implementation is a strong advantage.
- Silicon Labs / Z-Wave Experience
- Experience with the following is strongly preferred:
- Silicon Labs wireless platforms and SDKs
- Simplicity Studio
- Silicon Labs Gecko SDK
- Wireless stack APIs
- Z-Wave 700/800 series
- SmartStart and S2 security
- OTA DFU mechanisms
- Zniffer packet analysis and PTI packet tracing
- Security & Firmware Practices
- Understanding of secure boot and firmware signing.
- Experience with key provisioning and secure credential storage.
- Knowledge of encrypted OTA updates and secure authentication/pairing.
- Awareness of replay protection and embedded device security practices.
- Experience developing modular, event-driven, and state-machine-based firmware.
- Familiarity with hardware abstraction layers, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and firmware documentation.

Education
\n
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
