Please note that this project assignment is with our own direct clients. We do not go through any vendors. STG only does business with direct end clients. This is expected to be a long-term position. Position Description:
\n
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Senior Data Engineer will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the scalable and robust data infrastructure that powers our data-driven initiatives. This role requires a blend of advanced technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and strategic thinking to ensure our data systems are efficient, reliable, and meet evolving business needs.

What you'll do...

- Lead Data Architecture & Design: Oversee and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of complex, scalable, and resilient data architectures, including data warehouses, data lakes, and streaming platforms.
- Develop & Optimize Data Pipelines: Lead the creation, maintenance, and optimization of advanced ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver large volumes of data from diverse sources. Ensure data integrity, quality, and performance across all data flows.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior data engineers, fostering best practices in coding, data modeling, and system design. Conduct code reviews and contribute to team skill development.
- Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing data systems and pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with data scientists, data analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and influence data strategy. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Data Governance & Quality: Establish and enforce data governance standards, implement robust data quality checks, and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
- Technology Evaluation & Innovation: Research, evaluate, and recommend new data technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance our data platform capabilities and drive innovation.
- Lead the integration of new cloud technologies and AI tools (e.g., Vertex AI) into our workflows, continuously evaluating their potential and articulating their business value to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Acquire a deep understanding of vehicle engineering problems, translating them into appropriate mathematical representations and AI/ML solutions (classification, prediction, intelligent automation).
- Ensure the overall quality and integrity of data and solutions throughout the development lifecycle, from data collection and cleaning to model deployment.

You'll have...
\n
- \n
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science & Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or a related role, with a significant focus on large-scale data systems.
- Expert proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Scala.
- Advanced SQL skills for complex querying, data manipulation, and database design.
- Extensive experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Flink).
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services (e.g., AWS Glue, S3, Redshift, Athena; Azure Data Factory, Databricks; Google BigQuery, Dataflow).
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling (dimensional, relational), and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead discussions and present technical information clearly.
- 2+ year experience with database systems (SQL, NoSQL), API design (REST/GraphQL) and building scalable API services using frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI.
- 2+ year experience working with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.)
- A strong passion for evaluating, championing, and integrating new technologies and tools, particularly within GCP, into existing workflows, with the ability to clearly articulate and justify their business value and impact.
- Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interface between technical development teams and business stakeholders, understanding and navigating both IT and business constraints.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments where problems are not always well-defined, and solutions require innovative thinking.

- Masters Degree in Computer Science & Engineering
- Experience with real-time data processing and stream analytics.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of machine learning operationalization (MLOps) concepts and tools.
- Certifications in relevant cloud data platforms or big data technologies.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying solutions on major cloud platforms, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- 3+ years of Front-End Development experience using modern web technologies like React, JavaScript, and HTML, to build intuitive user interfaces for AI applications.
