Job Summary

This role requires deep expertise in supporting, configuring, and monitoring Windows operating systems. The position is responsible for managing escalations and driving interdepartmental coordination in a large, highly customized enterprise environment.


Key challenges include maintaining service level agreements at scale and effectively managing dependencies across multiple teams and service providers.

Essential Responsibilities

Own Hyper-V platform strategy, architecture, and operations; act as the final escalation point for complex issues

Design and implement high availability (HA) and resiliency patterns aligned to SLO/SLA objectives; lead post-incident corrective actions

Lead Windows Server lifecycle management, including standard images, patch governance, and reduction of technical debt

Establish observability standards, performance baselines, and proactive monitoring using automation and runbooks

Drive ITSM excellence, including major incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and change governance

Manage capacity forecasting and optimization across compute, storage, and network; support investment decisions with data

Define and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) readiness; execute DR tests and close identified gaps (RPO/RTO alignment)

Enforce security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and audit compliance for the virtualization stack

Collaborate across infrastructure and application teams; mentor engineers and lead architecture reviews and operational standards


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in Windows/Intel and/or UNIX/Linux administration

Minimum one (3) year in an informal leadership role within IT or operations teams

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience

Additional Requirements (Working Knowledge)

HPE Blade and DL Servers

Fibre Channel Storage

VMware Administration

Automation using Ansible or PowerShell

Preferred Qualifications

Active Directory experience

System administration experience

Experience working with senior leadership

Experience in large, matrixed organizations

Level 3 (L3) – Hyper‑V Senior Engineer / SME

Key Responsibilities (L3 Framing)

  • Support Hyper‑V platform operations and maintenance, handling complex incidents and acting as an escalation point within the engineering team.
  • Implement high availability (HA) configurations and resiliency solutions as per defined architecture, and contribute to post‑incident analysis and corrective actions.
  • Execute Windows Server lifecycle activities, including OS builds, patching, upgrades, and adherence to standard images and operational guidelines.
  • Monitor system performance and health, leveraging existing observability tools, dashboards, and runbooks to ensure proactive issue identification and resolution.
  • Participate in ITSM processes, including incident resolution, supporting root cause analysis (RCA), implementing problem fixes, and executing approved changes.
  • Track and report capacity utilization across compute, storage, and network resources; provide inputs for capacity planning and optimization.
  • Execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities, ensuring systems meet defined RPO/RTO targets during DR drills and actual recovery scenarios.
  • Perform security patching and vulnerability remediation, ensuring compliance with defined security and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams for issue resolution, service improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team.
