Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Production Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production and facility equipment. This position involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various machinery and systems, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and gas-fired equipment, all while adhering to production requirements and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate respect, commitment, and teamwork in all company interactions.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following PPE, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and safety procedures.
- Report food safety, quality, and defense concerns in compliance with SQF standards.
- Execute daily maintenance activities to support production uptime and departmental goals.
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs based on CMMS work orders.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot PLCs, including program initialization support.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, technical manuals, and vendor documentation.
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes.
- Repair or replace defective components and install upgraded parts.
- Conduct basic welding and fabrication as required.
- Maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems supporting production.
- Assist production teams and other functions with equipment setup and changeovers.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting during production runs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability and uptime.
- Train and mentor team members as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in CMMS systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a food manufacturing equipment environment.
- Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking); bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair systems including electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, steam, water, and wastewater systems.
- Experience with refrigeration and HVAC, processing and packaging equipment, and material handling systems.
- Proficiency in PLC and automation troubleshooting.
- Experience with equipment integration and controls systems.
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Trade school certification (preferred).
- Preventive maintenance .
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, and use hands, and occasionally stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large baking manufacturing company where the environment is hot due to ovens running 24/7, with a pleasant smell of baked goods. The shift is 3rd, Sunday-Thursday, 9:00 pm-5:30 am, with training on the 2nd shift from 1:30 pm-10:00 pm. Be prepared for on-call duties across other shifts and overtime on weekends as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Escondido, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
