Network Cable Installer – Job Description

A Network Cable Installer is responsible for installing, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network cabling systems that support voice, data, video, and communication networks. They work with various cable types, including Ethernet, fiber optic, and coaxial cables, to ensure reliable connectivity in commercial, industrial, and residential environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, route, terminate, and label network cables according to industry standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagrams.
• Install cable pathways, including conduits, cable trays, and raceways.
• Test and certify cabling systems using specialized testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair network cabling issues.
• Install and configure network hardware such as patch panels, racks, switches, and wireless access points.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, repairs, and testing results.
• Collaborate with network technicians, IT staff, and project managers to complete projects on schedule.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI).
• Experience with Ethernet, fiber optic, and coaxial cable installation.
• Ability to use cable testing and certification tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift equipment when necessary.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
