Area Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Kokomo, Indiana
Employment Type: Contract Position
Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour

Position Overview
The Area Maintenance Supervisor leads and directs skilled trades employees in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. This role supports the maintenance department’s safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee morale objectives while driving equipment reliability and throughput improvements.
The selected candidate will coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities while coaching team members on problem-solving techniques and corrective-action implementation.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and support skilled trades employees.
- Coordinate professional, preventive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Promote a safe working environment and support plant safety initiatives.
- Address equipment throughput, run-to-run, and downtime issues within the production environment.
- Apply maintenance strategies, including time-based maintenance (TBM), condition-based maintenance (CBM), and dynamic maintenance (DM).
- Influence key performance indicators, including Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- Help maintain equipment at basic operating conditions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Work with skilled trades employees to reduce waste through Autonomous Maintenance, Professional Maintenance, Quality Maintenance, Focused Improvement, and People Development methods.
- Lead and actively participate in Kaizen projects focused on improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Identify waste-reduction opportunities through cost-deployment activities.
- Coach and mentor hourly and supervisory team members on problem-solving and corrective-action techniques.
- Partner with plant leadership, internal customers, and maintenance specialists to achieve department objectives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of industrial automation experience, including project management experience.
- Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels, from hourly represented employees to senior leadership.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with plant leadership and internal customers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Goal-oriented, self-motivated leadership style.
- Ability to lead teams and coach, mentor, and develop skilled trades employees.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
