Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance Technician II with strong pipefitting and welding expertise to support operations within a Central Utility Plant and/or Water/Wastewater Treatment facility. This role is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of critical systems and equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and facility equipment to minimize downtime
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair motors, pumps, valves, and piping systems
  • Perform pipefitting, welding, brazing, and soldering tasks as required
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Install and commission new equipment and systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Maintain accurate work orders and asset records in CMMS systems
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and scaffolding safely
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including LOTO and PPE requirements
  • Work independently to resolve routine and complex maintenance issues
  • Support team meetings, training sessions, and additional assigned tasks


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, pipefitting, or welding
  • Strong welding experience (required)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics


Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical or trade school certification (mechanical systems, HVAC, fabrication, etc.)
  • Experience in utility plants or water/wastewater treatment environments
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, engines, pumps, and industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and industrial safety practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to weather conditions
  • Exposure to industrial hazards such as noise, machinery, high-pressure systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, fumes, and chemicals
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities including standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and working at heights
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and use appropriate safety equipment
  • Must be able to move throughout the facility, climb ladders/scaffolds, and operate vehicles with high ground clearance
