Job DescriptionDescription:

About the Company

Chan & Chan USA LLC is a growing food manufacturer producing high-quality frozen dumplings, buns, sausages, and other specialty products for our own brands and for leading retail and foodservice customers. Our team works in a modern, clean facility where safety, food safety, and quality come first.

Position Summary

The Safety & Facilities Coordinator runs the Bethlehem plant’s workplace safety programs and coordinates facility repairs, improvements, and installation projects. The role trains employees, inspects the plant, investigates incidents, keeps the plant in line with OSHA requirements, and manages contractors and project schedules so work gets done safely and on time. This is a hands-on role on the floor, in the warehouse, and on project sites. Success is measured by injury and incident rates, training completion, inspection findings closed on time, and facility projects delivered safely, on schedule, and on budget.

Essential Functions

  • Run the plant’s safety programs and keep them current with OSHA requirements: lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks, hazard communication, PPE, machine guarding, confined space, hot work, and cold stress.
  • Lead safety training: new-hire orientation, annual refreshers, lockout/tagout, and powered industrial truck training and certification; keep training records current.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of production, maintenance, and warehouse areas, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Investigate injuries, incidents, and near misses with supervisors, find root causes, and follow up on corrective actions; maintain OSHA injury and illness logs and coordinate workers’ compensation claims with HR.
  • Lead emergency preparedness: evacuation and emergency response plans, drills, and inspections of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first aid kits, and AEDs, including refrigeration system emergency procedures.
  • Lead the plant safety committee and report safety KPIs: injury rates, near misses, training completion, and inspection findings.
  • Coordinate facility repairs and improvements with the Maintenance Supervisor and the Director of Engineering: building, doors, docks, lighting, roof, and HVAC; get quotes, schedule contractors, and track work to completion.
  • Coordinate equipment and line installation projects: site preparation, contractor schedules, permits, jobsite safety, and punch lists, then hand off completed work to maintenance and production.
  • Manage contractor safety: orientation, work permits, and on-site oversight for all outside contractors.
  • Install and maintain low-voltage and building systems, such as security cameras, access control, network drops, and safety signage.
  • Track facility project schedules and spending against approved budgets.

Food Safety, Quality and Safety Responsibilities

The company operates under dual USDA (FSIS) and FDA jurisdiction.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), hygiene, allergen, and foreign-material controls; report food safety, quality, or safety concerns to a supervisor or FSQA immediately; and complete all required food safety and safety training.
  • Make sure contractors and facility work in production areas follow GMP, glass and brittle plastics, foreign material, and pest control rules, and that FSQA releases areas before production restarts.
