Job Description

Major Food Group is hiring a Field Facilities Associate to join our team!

Major Food Group is hiring a hands-on Facilities Associate / Manager to keep five of our downtown Manhattan restaurants running at their best: Carbone, Parm Mulberry, Dirty French, Clam Bar, and Sadelle's.

You'll handle day-to-day repairs yourself, from painting and touch-ups to minor plumbing and electrical work. You'll also coordinate outside vendors, keep our corporate facilities team informed, and act as the eyes and ears for improvements across all five locations.

This is a role for someone who likes fixing things, takes pride in a space looking right, and works well with chefs, managers, and vendors alike. Title and level are based on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hands-on maintenance and repairs

  • Perform interior painting, patching, and touch-ups to keep dining rooms, bars, and back-of-house looking sharp.

  • Handle minor plumbing: clogged drains, leaky faucets, toilets, sinks, and fixture swaps.

  • Handle minor electrical: replacing fixtures, bulbs, outlets, and switches, and troubleshooting basic issues.

  • Make general repairs to furniture, doors, hardware, shelving, and millwork, including swapping, leveling, and fixing tables and chairs.

  • Respond quickly to urgent issues that affect service, guest experience, or safety.

Vendor coordination

  • Schedule, meet, and oversee vendors for HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, pest control, hood cleaning, and specialty repairs.

  • Be on site to let vendors in, walk them through the issue, and confirm work is completed properly.

  • Track service visits, follow up on open work orders, and flag recurring problems.

Communication and collaboration

  • Serve as the main point of contact between the five restaurants and the corporate facilities team.

  • Report status of repairs, vendor work, and costs clearly and on time.

  • Work closely with general managers, chefs, and staff to schedule work around service with minimal disruption.

Eyes and ears on improvements

  • Walk each location regularly to spot wear, safety hazards, and maintenance needs before they become problems.

  • Recommend improvements and preventive maintenance to the corporate facilities team.

  • Help keep each restaurant ready for health, fire, and building inspections.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time availability. Hours vary with the needs of the business, including mornings, evenings, or weekends to meet vendors or handle repairs outside of service.

  • 2+ years of hands-on maintenance, facilities, or handyman experience.

  • Working skills in painting, minor plumbing, and minor electrical repair.

  • Experience coordinating and supervising outside vendors and contractors.

  • Strong communicator who keeps managers and corporate informed without being chased.

  • Collaborative, flexible, and calm under pressure, especially during service.

  • Organized and able to prioritize across five locations.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand or kneel for long periods.

  • Own basic hand and power tools (preferred) and comfortable traveling between locations.

Preferred:

  • Previous restaurant or hospitality facilities experience.

  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC basics.

  • Experience with work-order or maintenance tracking software.

  • Knowledge of NYC health, fire, and building code requirements.

  • Spanish language proficiency

BENEFITS:

  • Competitive Salary

  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance with Company subsidy

  • Growth Opportunities
