Job Description
Our client is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina to play a critical role in the design and engineering of site segmental retaining wall projects.

This individual will support the design, analysis, management, and scheduling of a variety of retaining wall projects while working closely with engineering, estimating, operations, construction, customers, and external project partners. The position offers the opportunity to join a specialized, experienced team and have meaningful involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from early estimating and design through field execution and final certification.

Responsibilities

- Design and review engineered drawings for site segmental retaining walls, ensuring designs meet applicable engineering principles, codes, specifications, and project requirements.
- Perform retaining wall design calculations and develop or review technical specifications and construction drawings.
- Review project specifications, submittals, contract documents, and civil site plans prepared by engineers and architects.
- Prepare retaining wall cost estimates using civil grading plans and project information to support the estimating process.
- Utilize AutoCAD and VESPA MSE to support estimating, design, analysis, and review of retaining wall systems.
- Interpret grading plans and other technical documentation to identify design requirements and potential project challenges.
- Conduct periodic site visits to address field conditions, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide engineering quality control.
- Complete retaining wall certifications and engineering documentation required for project closeout.
- Coordinate with internal team members, customers, contractors, and other engineering professionals to keep projects moving according to schedule and client expectations.

Qualifications
\n

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Current North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 3 years of civil and/or structural design engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of civil or structural engineering design principles, codes, practices, and procedures.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics and its application to retaining wall design.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with VESPA MSE design software.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret civil site grading plans.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to evaluate technical information, identify conflicts, and develop practical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and schedule projects, manage competing priorities, and meet client deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across project teams and directly with clients.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating proactively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
