Hueman is partnered with HES Facilities Management to help them find an experienced Director of Facilities to lead facilities operations for a higher education campus in Chambersburg, PA. This leadership role oversees campus buildings, grounds, maintenance, utilities, infrastructure, custodial services, capital projects, and skilled trades.

The Director of Facilities will lead day-to-day operations while developing long-term strategies for preventive maintenance, capital improvements, infrastructure renewal, safety, and facility modernization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all facilities management and physical plant operations, including building maintenance, grounds, utilities, custodial services, and infrastructure.

  • Oversee preventive, corrective, emergency, and routine maintenance programs.

  • Manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural, and utility systems.

  • Develop and execute capital improvement, deferred maintenance, and infrastructure plans.

  • Manage renovation, construction, and capital projects from planning through completion.

  • Lead, develop, and manage facilities employees and contracted service providers.

  • Manage operating budgets, capital forecasts, vendors, contracts, utilities, and project costs.

  • Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA/safety requirements, accessibility standards, environmental regulations, and institutional policies.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, extend asset life, and enhance campus facilities.

  • Serve as the primary facilities leader and technical resource for campus leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive facilities management, physical plant, construction, maintenance, infrastructure, or property management experience.

  • Experience leading multi-functional facilities or maintenance teams.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utilities, and building systems.

  • Experience managing capital projects, contractors, vendors, budgets, bids, and contracts.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical training and experience considered.

  • Higher education, campus, healthcare, hospitality, commercial facilities, or other complex multi-building environment experience is highly desirable.
