Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Day Shift)
Job Description
This role focuses on performing comprehensive building maintenance, including preventive and corrective work on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems. The Maintenance Technician works a day shift schedule, responds to maintenance requests, and ensures the facility remains safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems independently and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls, completing repairs in a timely and professional manner.
- Inspect buildings and premises regularly to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and potential issues before they escalate.
- Perform necessary maintenance and repairs to eliminate safety hazards and ensure a safe environment for occupants and visitors.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, services, and maintenance activities when required.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Maintain an organized inventory of supplies, parts, and tools required for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Document all maintenance and repair work performed, keeping accurate logs and records for future reference and compliance.
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding maintenance status, timelines, and any required follow-up work.
Essential Skills
- At least 10 years of experience in building maintenance or a closely related field.
- Strong hands-on experience as a maintenance technician working with building systems.
- Proficiency in the safe and effective use of hand tools and power tools commonly used in maintenance work.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems, including the ability to support preventive maintenance activities.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, including troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Basic understanding of plumbing systems, including diagnosing issues and performing repairs.
- Ability to independently diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems and determine appropriate repair methods.
- Good verbal communication skills to interact with occupants, colleagues, and contractors.
- Customer service mindset, with the ability to address maintenance requests professionally and courteously.
- Physical dexterity and stamina to lift heavy objects, work on ladders, and perform tasks in a variety of conditions and locations within the facility.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in general building maintenance, including light plumbing, light electrical work, and painting.
- Experience coordinating and overseeing external contractors for specialized maintenance and repair work.
- Strong attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities and maintaining accurate logs.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and manage time effectively during a day shift schedule.

Work Environment
This position follows a day shift schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work takes place in and around building facilities, involving mechanical rooms, common areas, and other interior and exterior spaces. The role requires regular use of hand tools and power tools, as well as interaction with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems. The work environment can involve varying temperatures, confined spaces, and physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and climbing. You will work both independently and alongside other maintenance staff and external contractors, focusing on safety, organization, and efficiency throughout the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
