Technical IT Manager
Job Description
Job DescriptionDescription:
Serving Arkansas with excellence for over 50 years, Klaasmeyer Construction Company is looking our next Technical IT Manager to join the Technology team. In this position, you will be leading a team while staying hands-on with network infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity, and automation. If you want a role where your technical skills still matter and your leadership makes a direct operational impact, this is it!
Requirements:
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and mentoring a small IT team — managing ticketing workflows, daily priorities, and technical execution while staying hands-on yourself
- Administering and optimizing network infrastructure (i.e., WatchGuard firewalls, Ubiquiti wireless and switching, VPN, VLAN, DNS) across office and field locations
- Managing systems environments (i.e., Google Workspace, Windows Server, Windows desktop, Unix/Linux appliances) and the full endpoint lifecycle
- Driving the company's vulnerability management program (i.e., Tenable) and enforcing security best practices across all endpoints, mobile devices, and cloud access
- Writing automation scripts (i.e., Python, PowerShell, Bash) and integrating AI tools to eliminate repetitive workflows and improve team throughput
- Supporting field site connectivity by keeping construction crews' job-site networks and technology running
- Serving as the primary escalation point for critical outages, network incidents, and security events — reporting directly to the CTO
What We Need From You
- 7+ years of hands-on IT experience with at least 1–2 years in a lead sysadmin, supervisor, or manager role
- Deep firewall and network security experience — hands-on administration of enterprise firewalls (i.e., WatchGuard), VPN, and network traffic management
- Strong wireless networking background; multi-site SSID/VLAN configuration, coverage optimization, and hardware deployment (i.e., Ubiquiti)
- Solid DNS, subnets, IP routing, and VPN fundamentals
- Windows OS proficiency with troubleshooting, imaging, deployment, and light Windows Server administration
- Ability to write functional automation scripts (i.e., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Experience with vulnerability management platforms (i.e., Tenable) and endpoint security practices
- Google Workspace administration experience
- Practical AI and automation integration experience
- CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or related certifications preferred
- 100% on-site, no remote option
The Physical Reality
This is a hands-on, on-site role. You'll split time between desk work, hands-on hardware and infrastructure work, and occasional field site visits. Expect to be on your feet, in the server room, and out at job sites regularly.
- Regular standing, walking, and hands-on work in office, server room, and yard environments
- Regular lifting and carrying of networking hardware and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Periodic kneeling and bending for hardware installation and cabling
- Occasional driving to construction field sites for job-site connectivity support
