About the job
The Custodial Supervisor oversees custodial and housekeeping operations, ensuring quality
service, proper staffing, efficient workflows, and consistent performance.
We're looking for someone who
● Has at least 2 years of recent experience supervising custodial, carpet, housekeeping, or related cleaning employees in a major commercial or government facility
● Has a high school diploma or equivalent and related experience (technical/trade school graduate preferred)
● Has hands-on knowledge of routine nightly and daytime building cleaning services
● Has working knowledge of housekeeping tools and equipment
● Has strong written and verbal communication skills and a customer-service mindset
● Can effectively train, supervise, and coordinate employees
● Can develop efficient work methods and procedures
● Can learn and adapt to technological advances
● Is committed to diversity and inclusivity
● Is bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
What you'll do
● Supervise the performance and daily operations of housekeeping, custodial, carpet, and related services
● Maintain appropriate skilled staffing levels based on established schedules
● Ensure adherence to quality-control standards and performance benchmarks
● Allocate work responsibilities appropriately among team members
● Train subordinate personnel on their assigned duties and responsibilities
● Develop and implement efficient, cost-effective work methods and procedures
● Coordinate with facilities leadership regarding housekeeping and custodial services
● Assist with developing budgets for labor, materials, equipment, and capital expenditures
● Establish performance standards for each phase of work where practical
● Manage the acquisition, storage, and accountability of operating materials, tools, and equipment
● Prepare required reports and operational summaries
● Meet regularly with team members to review service performance and address deficiencies
● Identify and implement corrective measures when performance issues arise
● Perform additional duties as required and within the scope of the position
Physical requirements
● Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods while overseeing cleaning operations
● Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and move throughout commercial or institutional facilities
● Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, and move cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment
● Must be able to inspect cleaning work and access various areas of a facility
● Must be able to work during scheduled daytime and/or nighttime operations as required
● Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
