Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Jira Developer (Backfill) to join a Long-term Contract opportunity in The Woodlands, Texas. In this role, you will strengthen and refine Jira as a core platform used by business and technology teams for planning, tracking, and execution. The ideal candidate brings practical experience building scalable Jira solutions, can work independently in an established environment, and is comfortable partnering with stakeholders to turn operational needs into effective system improvements.
Responsibilities:
• Build and refine Jira configurations to better support project delivery and day-to-day business operations.
• Create and maintain tailored workflows that improve how work is tracked, routed, and completed across teams.
• Manage issue schemes, custom fields, screen layouts, permissions, and project settings to align the platform with user needs.
• Develop automation rules that reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and increase process efficiency.
• Produce dashboards and reporting tools that give stakeholders clear visibility into project status, workload, and performance.
• Investigate platform issues, resolve configuration problems, and recommend practical enhancements based on usage patterns.
• Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective Jira and Confluence solutions.
• Support testing, rollout, and documentation of configuration updates, workflow changes, and system enhancements.• Proven experience administering, developing, and configuring Jira in a business-critical environment.
• Strong ability to design and modify custom workflows, fields, screens, and permission structures.
• Hands-on experience creating Jira automation rules, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
• Solid understanding of Jira functionality, including best practices for optimization and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and become productive quickly within an existing Jira ecosystem.
• Experience collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders to define and deliver requirements.
• Familiarity with Confluence configuration and support is preferred.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps, Agile delivery practices, or scripting languages used to extend Jira capabilities is a plus.
