Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Data Scientist to join our team! This position will support advanced data analytics initiatives, designing scalable data solutions and enabling insight-driven decision-making efforts. The position is located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ.
What will you be doing?
This position will be a key member of the data analytics and digital solutions team. Duties include:
- Conceptualize and design high-impact data use cases by transforming unstructured data (e.g., web pages, PDFs, free-text) into actionable insights
- Develop andmaintainPython 3 scripts to extract and process data from sources such as Excel, CSV, JSON, Markdown, APIs, and internal documents
- Utilizes Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) to execute/modify locally hosted large language models (LLMs) to generate summaries, classifications and data enrichments.
- Perform prompt engineering bydesigning,testing, documenting, and versioning prompts to ensure consistent outputs
- Build, enhance, andmaintainPower BI dashboards and configure on-premises data gateways for automated refreshes
- Generate deliverables in PDF, Word, and HTML formats using open-source tools
- Create comprehensive documentation for datasets, workflows, scripts, and dashboards
- Develop robust data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation pipelines
- Design andmaintainscalable data models to support analytics and reporting requirements
- Analyze and solve complex data-related challenges with a strong problem-solving approach
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and contribute to AI strategy documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?
This position will require the following skillsets and experience:
- Bachelors degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 2-5 years experience
- Experience developing Python-based data processing solutions
- Hands-on experience with data transformation, modeling, and analytics
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data sources
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be US Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance
