Balanced Diversity is partnering with a mission-driven public agency that provides affordable housing, community development, and housing support services throughout the Sacramento region to recruit a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician.
This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in residential property maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, or construction maintenance who enjoys solving problems, working with tools, and helping maintain safe, functional, and welcoming housing communities.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance across residential properties. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, respond to maintenance needs with professionalism, and take pride in keeping properties well-maintained for residents and staff.
In this role, you may:
- Perform general repairs and maintenance for residential units and common areas
- Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner
- Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, flooring, doors, locks, fixtures, and appliances
- Support unit turns, move-out repairs, and make-ready work
- Conduct preventative maintenance and routine property inspections
- Identify safety concerns, maintenance needs, and repair priorities
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Communicate professionally with residents, property staff, vendors, and supervisors
- Follow safety procedures, housing standards, and organizational policies
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Experience in residential property maintenance, apartment maintenance, construction maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related trade
- Ability to perform hands-on repairs using basic tools and maintenance equipment
- Working knowledge of general maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and appliance repair
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work orders and complete tasks efficiently
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Dependability, accountability, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work safely and respectfully in occupied residential environments
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working in affordable housing, public housing, apartment communities, or residential facilities
- Experience with unit turns, inspections, and preventative maintenance
- Construction, handyman, or trade background
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on assignment
