Job Title: Quality Technician
Job Description
The Quality Technician supports a high-volume manufacturing facility by performing comprehensive quality control activities on production parts and returns. This role focuses on precision inspection, accurate documentation, and effective troubleshooting to ensure all products meet strict dimensional and quality specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine quality inspections on sample parts from each production machine across the facility, covering approximately 80 machines.
- Review engineering prints and work instructions to verify that all inspected parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools to confirm parts are within required specifications, including holding tolerances of +/- 0.003.
- Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, nonconformities, or deviations from quality standards.
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately by writing detailed reports on findings.
- Troubleshoot and help determine root causes when parts are found out of specification, collaborating with the quality team and production as needed.
- Inspect returned parts to assess condition and determine reasons for failure or nonconformance.
- Work within the quality department to evaluate whether nonconforming parts can be reworked or must be scrapped.
- Support and, in the future, perform measurements using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify complex dimensions and geometries.
- Assist with testing and calibration activities for measurement tools and equipment when time allows.
- Follow all quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements to maintain consistent and reliable inspection practices.
- Contribute to a safe and organized work area, using required personal protective equipment and adhering to facility safety guidelines.
Essential Skills
- 2–3 years of quality experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering prints and work instructions.
- Proficiency in using micrometers, gauges, calipers, and other measurement tools for dimensional inspection.
- Experience performing quality inspections and quality control activities on manufactured parts.
- Ability to conduct visual inspections to identify defects and nonconforming conditions.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to help determine why parts are not meeting specification.
- Ability to write clear, accurate reports documenting inspection results and findings.
- Comfort working with tight tolerances, including maintaining +/- 0.003 where required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in measurements and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a quality department and communicate effectively with production personnel
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility with multiple production machines, where you will spend much of your time on the shop floor performing inspections. The day shift typically runs from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with work primarily on the back end of the shift and an expectation of approximately 50 hours per week; there are two openings on this shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Michigan City, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.63 - $21.75/hr.
