The Assistant Director of Maintenance will work directly alongside our current Director of Maintenance, gaining hands-on training and experience in all aspects of managing a skilled nursing facility's maintenance department. The position is designed to provide the successful candidate with the knowledge and experience necessary to potentially advance into the Director of Maintenance position.

The Director of Maintenance will work closely with the successful candidate and provide training across facility operations, preventive maintenance, projects, staff management, vendors, inspections, and day-to-day department responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Maintenance on facility projects, repairs, preventive maintenance, and day-to-day maintenance operations.
  • \n

  • Learn and assist with the responsibilities of the Director of Maintenance, including planning, coordinating, and overseeing facility maintenance operations.
  • \n

  • Assist in supervising and coordinating the maintenance team and daily assignments.
  • \n

  • Assume responsibility for the maintenance department and oversee daily operations when the Director of Maintenance is not present.
  • \n

  • Perform and oversee preventive and proactive maintenance throughout the facility, including plumbing, electrical, construction, HVAC, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
  • \n

  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities and ensure work is completed properly and in a timely manner.
  • \n

  • Help ensure the facility, equipment, and resident living areas are properly maintained and meet safety and operational standards.
  • \n

  • Respond to routine and urgent maintenance needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • \n

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and completing maintenance projects as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
  • \n

  • Provide guidance and direction to maintenance staff as needed.
  • \n

  • Develop an understanding of the broader responsibilities involved in managing a healthcare facility's maintenance department.
  • \n

  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties and projects as assigned.
  • \n

Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Minimum of 2 years of general maintenance experience; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • \n

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, HVAC, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
  • \n

  • Ability to lead and work effectively with a maintenance team.
  • \n

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • \n

  • Healthcare or skilled nursing facility experience is a plus.
  • \n

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • \n

  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and projects.
  • \n

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • \n

  • Reliable, hardworking, and willing to take initiative.
  • \n

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when the Director of Maintenance is not present.
  • \n

  • Strong desire to learn, grow, and advance into a Director-level maintenance position.
  • \n
