Industrial Engineering & Maintenance Manager


Location: Strasburg, VA

Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite

Compensation Range: $90,000 – $100,000 (flexibility for the right candidate)


About the Opportunity


A growing industrial recycling facility is seeking an Industrial Engineering & Maintenance Manager to play a key leadership role at its Strasburg, Virginia plant. This position combines hands-on maintenance leadership with process engineering and continuous improvement responsibilities.


You will oversee all maintenance operations while also driving efficiency improvements, process optimization, and equipment reliability across the plant. This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the Plant Manager, with the opportunity to shape systems, processes, and performance at a developing facility.


What You’ll Do


• Lead and direct maintenance technicians supporting all plant equipment and facility infrastructure

• Oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, emergency inspections, and compliance testing

• Manage mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and facility systems

• Support maintenance and operation of recycling equipment including shredders, grinders, conveyors, refining line equipment, and baggers

• Partner with equipment vendors and OEMs for installation, training, and long-term equipment reliability

• Lead and assist with installation, repair, removal, and transfer of production equipment

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and waste elimination

• Analyze plant operations and identify opportunities to improve throughput, uptime, and process flow

• Develop and maintain process documentation related to equipment operation and maintenance

• Collaborate with operations, production, and quality teams to improve overall plant performance

• Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including service agreements and project work

• Conduct and document facility inspections to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations

• Proactively resolve maintenance, operational, and quality issues to prevent downtime

• Communicate maintenance and operational status to Plant Management

• Reinforce safety practices and ensure proper safeguarding of equipment and systems

• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and labor regulations

• Perform additional duties as assigned


What You Bring


• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience

• 3+ years of experience in maintenance, engineering, or facilities leadership within an industrial environment

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems

• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and equipment reliability

• Exposure to continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or process optimization initiatives

• Experience working with industrial or recycling equipment is a plus

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills

• Ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on when needed

• Strong communication skills across operations, maintenance, and leadership teams

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and attention to detail

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
