Our mission
Buildings that serve justice and the public must run flawlessly. CGL unites planning, design, program management, and facility maintenance to ensure these critical environments operate safely and efficiently—across the U.S. and around the world.
Why this role matters
When a control panel trips, a lateral line fails, or a rooftop unit stalls, operations pause. As our Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll be the steady hand restoring service—protecting safety, uptime, and the people who rely on these facilities every day.
How you’ll contribute
- Diagnose and repair issues across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, appliances, water heaters, disposals, and general building systems.
- Execute the preventive maintenance program so equipment runs smoothly and buildings don’t deteriorate—especially HVAC tasks like filter changes and routine checks.
- Respond to emergencies: sewage back-ups; water main and lateral breaks (expose, repair, and replace soil as needed); fires; leaks; critical appliance repairs.
- Assemble/install/repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Operate plant equipment and building automation systems; fine-tune setpoints as needed.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, and parts catalogs to plan work and source components.
- Maintain and inventory tools (snakes, gauges, drills, etc.); ensure equipment is service-ready.
- Use chemicals safely and wear PPE correctly; handle hazardous materials in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Keep work areas clean; meet CGL, OSHA, and client safety standards; correct hazards quickly.
- Document all work in the CMMS and close work orders per CGL policy.
- Mentor technicians from other trades—share fundamentals, provide oversight, and build team capability.
What you’ll need to succeed
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years in facilities maintenance or a relevant trade (preferred).
- Working knowledge across multiple trades: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Computer proficiency; clear, professional communication with clients and peers.
- Reliable, positive, and collaborative; able to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Comfort working indoors/outdoors in all weather; lift 50 lbs regularly and occasionally more than 50 lbs.
- On-call availability as needed.
- Valid in-state driver’s license (required).
- EPA 608 and skilled trade certifications (preferred).
Schedule and mobility
Expect some on-call work. You may drive a company vehicle (from rarely to frequently) or use a personal/rental vehicle for company business more than 50% of the time, depending on assignment.
Growth and rewards
We’re committed to equitable, competitive pay tied to your location, skills, education, licenses/certifications, and experience—and to pay equity across our teams. Offers balance internal alignment and market data; exceptionally qualified candidates may be hired near the top of the range.
