$15/HR with WEEKLY pay!

4AM-1PM M-F every other weekends when school is in session.

Job Description

This role focuses on cleaning and maintaining assigned areas across a university campus to a high standard of customer and client satisfaction. You will perform a wide range of custodial and janitorial tasks, including trash removal, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and operating floor care equipment. The position requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and flexibility to work in various buildings and spaces as needs change.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain assigned areas of the university, including common areas, residence halls, offices, hallways, stairwells, classrooms, and bathrooms.
  • Remove trash and recycling from designated locations and transport it to proper disposal areas.
  • Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors, ensuring surfaces remain clean, safe, and presentable.
  • Operate floor buffer machines and other custodial equipment as needed to maintain floor surfaces.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties such as dusting, wiping surfaces, and cleaning fixtures.
  • Maintain restrooms by cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking supplies on a regular schedule.
  • Follow established safety procedures and precautions while using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Observe and report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual conditions in assigned areas.

Essential Skills

  • Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities cleaning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning tasks.
  • Experience with sanitizing and sanitation practices in a facilities or custodial environment.
  • Ability to operate floor buffer machines and other standard custodial equipment or willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure all areas meet cleanliness and appearance standards.
  • Capability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull more than 50 pounds.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a university, educational, or large facility setting is an advantage.
  • Background in general labor or facilities support is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in varied environments such as residence halls, classrooms, offices, and stairwells.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for building occupants.
  • Willingness to move between different buildings and areas based on daily custodial needs.

Work Environment

This position is based on a university campus and involves maintaining multiple buildings, including common areas, residence halls, offices, hallways, stairwells, classrooms, and bathrooms. The role is physically active and requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of items over 50 pounds, as well as extended periods of standing, walking, and performing repetitive motions. You will use custodial tools and equipment such as mops, brooms, floor buffer machines, and cleaning chemicals while adhering to safety procedures. The environment includes both public and residential spaces, and assignments may change day to day as you support the janitorial and cleaning needs of different areas across the campus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
