About the Job:

The Mine Operations Technology Systems Technician will be responsible for maintaining and supporting Rockwell automation applications, including FactoryTalk Historian SE, Aveva PI Vision, and Asset Framework. This role also involves managing software licensing, overseeing network environments, managing SQL Server databases, and troubleshooting application issues. The role will ensure the smooth operation of critical industrial systems, maintaining high levels of uptime and efficiency within the operational technology environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update Rockwell automation software, including FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk Historian SE, Aveva PI Vision, Studio 5000, and other associated applications.
  • Manage the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices in software configuration and deployment.
  • Oversee the configuration, management, and systems maintenance of FactoryTalk Historian SE, Aveva PI Vision, and Asset Framework to ensure accurate data collection, visualization, and reporting.
  • Ensure that historian data is reliable, available, and correctly archived for analysis, compliance, and operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop and refine data collection and visualization strategies.
  • Implement and manage Asset Framework models to organize and contextualize data from various sources.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases that support the operational technology environment.
  • Perform database tuning, backups, and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and performance.
  • Implement and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures to support reporting, analytics, and application performance.
  • Oversee the procurement, renewal, and management of software licenses for Rockwell applications, Aveva PI, and SQL Server.
  • Ensure all applications and databases are properly licensed and maintain records of licensing status.
  • Work closely with vendors to resolve any licensing issues.
  • Monitor and maintain the operational technology network, ensuring its security and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues that impact the operation of automation systems, SQL Server connectivity, and PI System components.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate operational technology systems with broader corporate networks, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Provide first-line support for application, database, and network issues, diagnosing and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with operations and engineering teams to address any system failures, database issues, or performance problems, including issues related to PI Vision and Asset Framework.
  • Document and report on issues, resolutions, and ongoing status of the operational technology environment.
  • Plan and execute system and database upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Implement new technologies, systems, and databases, including updates to PI Vision and Asset Framework, as needed to support operational goals.
  • Test and validate new systems, updates, and database changes before deployment to the live environment.
  • Ensure all systems, databases, and processes comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all systems, configurations, processes, procedures, and SQL queries, including Asset Framework models.
  • Assist in audits and reviews as required.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Rockwell automation software, including FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk Historian SE, Aveva PI Vision, Asset Framework, Studio 5000, and related applications.
  • Strong understanding of network technologies and protocols relevant to operational technology environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server management, SQL programming, and database optimization.
  • Experience with licensing management and compliance.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical, historian, and database issues quickly and effectively.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation systems, PI Vision, Asset Framework, and SQL Server databases.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to document technical processes, database configurations, Asset Framework models, and issues clearly and comprehensively.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion.
  • Experience with system and database upgrades, implementation projects, and SQL query development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, particularly with operations, engineering, and IT teams.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where reliability and uptime are critical.
  • Certifications (Preferred but not required):
    • Rockwell Automation Certification.
    • Aveva PI System Administration or Asset Framework certification.
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar SQL Server certifications.
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar networking certifications.
    • CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in operational technology, industrial automation, or a related field.
  • Experience in maintaining and supporting Rockwell applications, FactoryTalk Historian SE, Aveva PI Vision, Asset Framework, SQL Server, and networks in an industrial setting.


Additional Information:

  • Hourly Rate Range: $36.00 – $46.09 (DOE)
  • Quarterly bonus up to $4,100 (up to $16,400 annually)
