Job Title: Electrical Project Manager
Job Description
The Electrical Project Manager oversees complex electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a focus on new construction high‑rise residential and commercial work across New York City. This role manages project schedules, budgets, documentation, and coordination with field teams and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with NYC electrical codes and project specifications. The position offers the opportunity to lead large‑scale projects, contribute to high‑quality electrical installations, and grow within a well‑established electrical contracting environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring all phases are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with quality standards.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, tracking milestones, critical paths, and resource allocation for multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinate daily and weekly activities with Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and vendors to support efficient field operations.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to guide installation work and resolve technical issues in the field.
- Monitor project progress and prepare reports on cost, schedule, and scope, highlighting risks and recommending corrective actions when needed.
- Assist with and oversee budget tracking, change orders, and cost control measures to maintain financial performance for projects ranging from $6–$20 million.
- Support monthly billings, job cost reports, and cash‑flow monitoring to ensure accurate invoicing and healthy project financials.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including contracts, change orders, meeting minutes, permits, inspection reports, and as‑built records.
- Coordinate material procurement, including take‑offs, purchase orders, and delivery scheduling, to ensure timely availability of equipment, wiring, conduit, and other materials.
- Participate in project meetings with owners, general contractors, and design teams, providing clear updates on project status and technical issues.
- Support and enforce jobsite safety standards and company policies, promoting a safe work environment for all team members and subcontractors.
- Assist with permit documentation, inspection scheduling, and responses to regulatory agencies as required for NYC projects.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with NYC electrical codes, relevant standards, and project specifications, including services, emergency generators, cogeneration systems, CCTV, intercom, and fire alarm systems.
- Oversee 1–2 projects at a time, balancing priorities and resources across multiple high‑rise residential and commercial jobs throughout the five boroughs.
- Demonstrate strong technical ability, working at a fast pace and with confidence to perform duties independently while maintaining high quality standards.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management.
- 5–10 years of professional experience in the construction industry, specifically on new construction high‑rise residential projects on the electrical side.
- Hands‑on experience with electrical construction for large‑scale projects, including services, emergency generators, cogeneration systems, CCTV, intercom, and fire alarm systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, including NYC requirements, and the ability to apply them to design and installation decisions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications for complex electrical systems.
- Proven project management experience in electrical construction, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Experience managing projects throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction project management software.
- Demonstrated capability in project coordination, including collaboration with field supervision, subcontractors, vendors, and design teams.
- Experience with change order preparation, negotiation, and implementation.
- Technical expertise in electrical circuits, installation, wiring, and conduit systems.
- Ability to track project progress and produce clear reports on cost, schedule, and scope.
- Confidence to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and drive tasks to completion quickly and accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with both residential and commercial new construction projects in dense urban environments.
- Familiarity with design‑build collaboration and strong preconstruction planning processes.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with owners, general contractors, design teams, and field personnel.
- Detail‑oriented approach to maintaining documentation, permits, inspections, and as‑built records.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, typically 1–2 large projects at a time.
- Comfort working on projects in the $6–$20 million range, with an understanding of the financial and operational demands of large contracts.
- Results‑driven mindset with emphasis on technical excellence, speed of execution, and independent problem‑solving.

Work Environment
This role operates within a full‑service electrical contracting environment focused on high‑rise residential and commercial new construction projects across all five boroughs of New York City. The Electrical Project Manager works closely with field supervision, subcontractors, vendors, owners, general contractors, and design teams, using tools such as Procore and other construction technologies to manage complex projects. The position involves regular visits to active construction sites, coordination with office and field staff, and oversight of large projects typically valued between $6–$20 million. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $61.00/hr.
