This role focuses on maintaining and repairing production equipment, buildings, and grounds, with a strong emphasis on PLC troubleshooting and multi-craft maintenance. The Maintenance Technician diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently, and performs a wide variety of general maintenance tasks across the facility.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment to restore and maintain optimal production performance.
- Perform general, non-specialized maintenance tasks on equipment, buildings, and grounds as required.
- Carry out a variety of maintenance activities including painting, bolting, welding, machining, simple plumbing, heating and air service, and electrical connections and disconnections.
- Make general repairs to production equipment, including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues on production machinery to minimize downtime.
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs on 3-phase motors and related electrical components.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce unplanned breakdowns and extend asset life.
- Work safely with 480V electrical systems, relays, sensors, and related control components.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and return machinery to production-ready status in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to share knowledge and ensure consistent maintenance practices.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage as required by company procedures.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and recommending long-term solutions.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in PLC troubleshooting, including diagnosing and resolving control system issues.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic repair, including troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic systems.
- Hands-on experience with pneumatic repair, including troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with 480V systems, relays, sensors, and control circuits.
- Ability to troubleshoot both mechanically and electrically on production equipment.
- Experience working with 3-phase motors, including diagnosis and repair.
- Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance on industrial equipment.
- Capability to perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, welding, bolting, machining, simple plumbing, and basic HVAC service.
- Comfort working with PLC platforms, including Allen-Bradley systems.
- Ability to quickly diagnose equipment issues and restore machinery to production status.
- Strong safety awareness when working with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a true multi-craft maintenance technician, supporting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems, including Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams.
- Willingness to support different shift times as needed by operations.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with maintenance technologies and best practices.

Work Environment
The facility is clean and organized, providing a professional maintenance and production environment. The work area is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. Typical shift times are 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with flexibility to adjust hours as needed to support operations. The role involves working around industrial equipment, electrical systems up to 480V, pneumatic and hydraulic machinery, and PLC-controlled systems. Technicians use standard maintenance tools and equipment, including welding, machining, and basic HVAC service tools. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety while performing maintenance tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
