Job DescriptionReliability Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to improve equipment performance, minimize unplanned downtime, and drive continuous improvement within an industrial manufacturing facility. This individual will develop and implement reliability strategies that enhance operational efficiency, improve equipment availability, and support safety and environmental compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical equipment reliability, predictive and preventive maintenance, and root cause failure analysis. This role will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to identify equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and improve long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement equipment reliability strategies and performance goals in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.

  • Manage and improve predictive and preventive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared thermography.

  • Provide technical support to maintenance personnel, supervisors, and engineers to troubleshoot equipment issues and develop effective solutions.

  • Lead root cause failure analysis investigations to identify the causes of mechanical failures and prevent recurring issues.

  • Evaluate equipment condition and recommend repair priorities, maintenance strategies, and equipment improvements.

  • Support the planning and execution of facility shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance activities.

  • Identify, develop, and manage reliability improvement projects focused on equipment performance, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.

  • Prepare engineering documentation and assist with the design and implementation of equipment upgrades and facility modifications.

  • Review engineering designs and project specifications to ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, industry standards, and internal guidelines.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining mechanical engineering procedures and equipment safety standards.

  • Review vendor technical documentation and participate in equipment inspections and testing as needed.

  • Apply reliability-centered maintenance principles and industry best practices to improve equipment availability and reduce maintenance costs.

  • Participate in site on-call or operational support responsibilities as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, or a similar process-driven environment.

  • Experience with engineering project management, budgeting, and resource planning preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical equipment reliability, maintenance optimization, and failure prevention.

  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices and process safety requirements.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment, including turbines, axial and centrifugal compressors, reciprocating and screw compressors, centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and diaphragm pumps.

  • Knowledge of compressor control systems and industrial process control principles.

  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration monitoring, oil analysis, and infrared thermography.

  • Proficiency in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), or similar methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM).

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to evaluate complex mechanical systems and develop practical, long-term engineering solutions.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
