About the Opportunity
Because we handle highly sensitive commercial financial data, we operate our IT infrastructure like an absolute fortress. We are actively moving away from relying on pre-built templates and are looking for a true commercial-minded builder to join our internal IT engineering team and architect enterprise-grade security walls from the ground up.

You will be a core architectural voice, working directly alongside our Director of IT and Director of Technology Architecture to modernize, secure, and own a mission-critical, enterprise-grade financial environment.
The Reality of the Role
Let’s be completely transparent about what we need: this is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role. We are not looking for a high-level manager, a pure data engineer (Databricks/ETL), or an identity specialist.
We need a dedicated Azure Infrastructure Architect who takes deep pride in building secure, zero-trust cloud networks and bulletproof disaster recovery plans. Whether you deploy via Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep) or expertly build through the Azure Portal, you must have a long-term mindset and a desire to take total ownership of our cloud environment and maintain the reliability of your own deployments.
What You Will Do
- Strictly Secure, "Private-Only" Azure Networking: Design and maintain a 100% private-only cloud architecture. You will architect complex hub-and-spoke networks, heavily utilizing Private Endpoints, Private Link, and internal Azure DNS resolution to ensure our resources have zero public internet exposure. Securing resources and working with private networks only is a daily mandate.
- Advanced Business Continuity Planning (BCP) & Disaster Recovery: Own our enterprise disaster recovery strategy. This goes far beyond just spinning up basic backups. You must design and account for deep failover utilizing Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for Virtual Machines, orchestrate PaaS service recovery (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Azure API Management), ensure end-to-end networking resiliency, and actively build, document, and test DR failover plans.
- Modern Application Enablement: Partner seamlessly with our internal application development teams (C#/.NET) to support PaaS services, CI/CD pipelines, and secure SaaS integrations.
- Hybrid Infrastructure Support: While this is a heavily cloud-focused role, you must have zero ego about occasionally rolling up your sleeves to troubleshoot legacy on-premise networking hardware (Meraki/Fortinet switches) to ensure end-to-end connectivity.
What You Bring to the Table
- 7+ years of dedicated experience in IT infrastructure, with a heavy, recent emphasis on core Azure Cloud Architecture.
- Commercial/Financial Background: We move fast. A proven track record working in the fast-paced commercial, enterprise, or banking/financial sectors is highly preferred over operating in rigid GovCon/DoD environments.
- Packet-Level Security: Expert-level, hands-on knowledge of Azure Private Endpoints, Private DNS, and troubleshooting secure network resolution paths.
- Holistic BCP/DR Experience: Comprehensive, proven experience with Azure BCP, extending beyond ASR to encompass PaaS recovery and active network resiliency testing.
- Long-Term Ownership: A history of project ownership and tenure. We are looking for an internal team member who wants a long-term home, not a short-term consultant.
