Job requirements:
- 1-3+ years of commercial fiber splicing experience
- Able to independently splice, install, test, and troubleshoot fiber
- Ability to read prints, splice matrices, and cable pathways
- Open to night shift, 12-hour shifts, and overtime
Plusses:
- 288/432-count fiber experience
- Data Center experience
- OTDR experience
- OSHA 10 certification
- CPR, man lift, or DOT eligibility
Day-to-Day:
- Independently prepare, splice, install, and test fiber
- Read construction prints and splice matrices
- Troubleshoot fiber issues and perform cable relocations/hot cuts
- Support fiber routing, termination, dressing, and labeling
- Train and mentor Level I technicians
Job Description: Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer Tech II for a top telecommunications infrastructure client supporting large-scale Data Center, ISP, and OSP fiber deployments. This technician will independently perform fiber installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting while helping train junior technicians.
Pay rate: $29-$44/hr
Location: Onsite, Abilene, TX
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Monday-Saturday, typically starting on nights (6 PM-6 AM). Must be flexible to work 6 AM-6 PM as project needs change and support a 24/7 operation. Overtime expected.
Relocation: Local and traveling candidates considered; $178/day per diem for eligible travelers outside the 60-mile radius
