The Mechanical Industrial Helper assists skilled mechanics, millwrights, maintenance technicians, and industrial trades personnel in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of industrial equipment and machinery. This role supports daily maintenance activities, ensures work areas remain clean and safe, and helps maintain efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics and maintenance technicians with equipment installation, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Gather, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment needed for jobs.
- Clean and prepare work areas before, during, and after maintenance activities.
- Lubricate machinery and perform basic maintenance tasks as directed.
- Help disassemble and reassemble mechanical components and equipment.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment safely.
- Assist with inspections of machinery and equipment for wear, damage, or malfunction.
- Load and unload materials, parts, and supplies.
- Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used when required.
- Support housekeeping efforts to keep the facility clean and organized.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous industrial, manufacturing, construction, or maintenance experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn industrial maintenance skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in various industrial environments.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or shifts as needed.
