Job Description
Job Description
FreeCast is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Channel Programmer to support the scheduling, programming, and day-to-day operations of our streaming television channels.
In this role, you'll help ensure that content is accurately scheduled, organized, and delivered to viewers across our Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels.
We're looking for someone with a background in television programming, broadcast traffic, master control, content scheduling, or media operations who enjoys working behind the scenes to keep channels running smoothly.
You don't need to be an expert in FAST streaming to succeed here. If you understand how television programming and scheduling work, are comfortable with technology, and have strong attention to detail, we'd love to hear from you.
What You Need to Succeed
- Approximately 1–3 years of experience in television programming, broadcast traffic, master control, content scheduling, media operations, or a related field.
- Familiarity with television programming schedules, broadcast logs, content playlists, or similar operational workflows.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially when working with schedules, content information, and deadlines.
- Comfort working with spreadsheets, scheduling systems, databases, or other operational software.
- Ability to identify scheduling inconsistencies, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and streaming workflows.
- Availability to work on-site at our Orlando office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with broadcast traffic or television scheduling systems, such as WideOrbit or similar platforms.
- Exposure to FAST channels, connected TV (CTV), OTT platforms, or digital video distribution.
- Familiarity with electronic program guides (EPG), content metadata, or media asset management systems.
- Understanding of advertising breaks, programming logs, and commercial placement.
- Experience with content ingestion, playlist management, or automated playout systems.
- Familiarity with content rights, licensing restrictions, or programming availability windows.
- Previous experience in a television station, broadcast network, streaming platform, or media operations environment.
These qualifications are helpful but not required. We're interested in candidates with transferable experience who are motivated to learn.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and update programming schedules for assigned streaming television channels.
- Organize content playlists and ensure programming is scheduled accurately and consistently.
- Review programming logs, content information, and scheduling details to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate content updates, schedule changes, and programming adjustments with internal teams.
- Maintain accurate content metadata, including titles, descriptions, episode information, durations, and other scheduling details.
- Support the accuracy of electronic program guide (EPG) information and related channel data.
- Assist with the placement and coordination of advertising breaks within programming schedules.
- Monitor scheduled content and help identify potential playback, timing, or programming issues.
- Coordinate with content, technical, and operations teams to troubleshoot scheduling or delivery problems.
- Help track content availability, programming restrictions, and licensing windows when applicable.
- Support content ingestion, channel launches, and ongoing programming updates.
- Maintain organized records and documentation related to programming operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve scheduling accuracy, operational workflows, and overall channel performance.
What Are FAST Channels?
FAST stands for Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television.
FAST channels provide viewers with free television programming supported by advertising, similar to traditional cable TV but delivered through internet-connected devices.
Unlike on-demand streaming, many FAST channels follow a scheduled programming lineup, allowing viewers to tune in and watch content throughout the day.
At FreeCast, our Channel Programmer helps organize and maintain these schedules, ensuring the right content plays at the right time and viewers have a consistent experience.
If you've worked with traditional television schedules, broadcast traffic, or master control operations, many of those skills transfer directly to FAST programming.
