The Quality Technician supports the Quality team in carrying out day-to-day activities, ensuring products and processes comply with established quality standards and customer requirements. This role performs a variety of inspections and tests, documents and communicates results, and contributes to continuous improvement and special projects that enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Support the Quality team in executing daily quality control and assurance activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture through participation in safety toolbox talks, safety committees, and positive reinforcement programs.
- Perform process and final inspections to ensure compliance with defined requirements and specifications.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) to validate new or revised products and processes.
- Perform finished goods audits to verify product quality prior to shipment.
- Carry out incoming material inspections to ensure received materials meet quality standards.
- Document, file, and communicate inspection and testing results in a clear and timely manner.
- Use test and measurement equipment such as calipers, tape measures, micrometers, comparators, tensile test machines, hardness testers, and other laboratory equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, routers (work orders), bills of material, and other part documentation and directives.
- Respond to internal emails regarding product and quality concerns and provide accurate information and follow-up.
- Perform military part inspections using applicable MIL specifications and sampling documents to ensure compliance.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all data collected, recorded, and entered into quality systems.
- Participate in Non-Conforming Material Report (NMR/NCR) processes, including identification, documentation, and disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities by contributing to evaluation and decision-making on nonconforming product.
- Engage in 5S, Kanban, and continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, efficiency, and workplace organization.
- Set up test machines and equipment with minimal instruction, ensuring proper operation and safety.
- Perform visual inspections and quality checks to identify defects and verify conformity to standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Essential Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly document results and interact with cross-functional teams.
- High level of organization and attention to detail in performing inspections and recording data.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies such as 5-Why and 8D.
- Knowledge of pre-production testing and the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
- Ability to set up test machines with minimal instructions and operate lab equipment safely and accurately.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and comparators.
- Experience with tensile testing and hardness testing in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform visual inspections and quality checks in accordance with established standards.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, routers, and bills of material.
- Understanding of quality inspection, quality checks, quality control, and quality assurance principles.
- Strong technical aptitude demonstrated through either a 2-year technical degree or 2+ years of experience in technical manufacturing roles.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player and excel in a collaborative environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience conducting First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Familiarity with military part inspections, including use of MIL specifications and sampling documents.
- Experience with NMR/NCR (Non-Conforming Material Report) processes.
- Participation in MRB (Material Review Board) activities.
- Exposure to 5S and Kanban methodologies and other continuous improvement activities.

Work Environment
The role operates in both office and manufacturing environments. The manufacturing area can be hot in the summer and cool in the winter, and the position may occasionally require lifting up to 50 lbs. Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting and focusing on computer screens to review data and documentation, as well as extended periods of walking or standing on the manufacturing floor while performing inspections and tests. The environment supports hands-on use of measurement tools, test machines, and laboratory equipment in a modern facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Erlanger, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
