Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is a hands-on role responsible for safely restoring and improving the uptime of injection molding, paint, assembly, auxiliary, and plant utility equipment in a high-volume 24/7 manufacturing operation. The technician uses structured troubleshooting, completes preventive maintenance, communicates downtime status, documents verified causes and corrective actions, and helps eliminate repeat failures. Candidates will be aligned to one of two primary technical tracks based on demonstrated capability.
Essential Responsibilities
• Safety: Perform all work in accordance with Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, PPE, and plant safety requirements; never bypass safeguards.
• Equipment troubleshooting: Independently diagnose and repair electrical/control, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical failures affecting injection molding, paint, assembly, and auxiliary equipment.
• Electrical and controls: Troubleshoot motors, starters/contactors, relays, sensors, heaters, thermocouples, safety circuits, wiring, and control devices using schematics and appropriate test equipment.
• Utilities and material conditioning: Diagnose and restore process-water flow and temperature, pumps, valves, strainers/filters, chillers, thermolators, dryers, dewpoint performance, and compressed-air systems.
• Automation: Safely troubleshoot robots, conveyors, and automated equipment, including fault recovery and input/output diagnostics within authorized limits.
• Preventive maintenance: Complete assigned preventive and predictive maintenance accurately and on time; correct abnormalities and escalate access, parts, or scheduling barriers before the due date.
• Downtime response: Respond with urgency, troubleshoot systematically, provide clear status and estimated recovery time, and escalate unresolved breakdowns according to the plant escalation process.
• Work documentation: Close work orders before the end of the shift with the symptom, verified cause, corrective action, labor time, parts used, and required follow-up.
• Shift continuity: Participate in structured shift handoffs and communicate open issues, temporary repairs, safety concerns, and the next required action.
Reliability and readiness: Support installations, planned shutdowns, mold-change equipment readiness, repeat-failure elimination, spare-parts accuracy, and 5S.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least three years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience in high-volume manufacturing.
• Independent troubleshooting of electrical/control systems plus at least two of the following: mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics and safely use diagnostic tools.
• Accurate CMMS documentation and clear shift-handoff communication.
• Availability for the assigned shift and required overtime, weekends, holidays, or call-ins.
• U.S. work authorization without current or future employer sponsorship.
