Job Title: Project Scheduler - Mission Critical/Data Center
Job Description
This on-site Project Scheduler role oversees the scheduling function for one or more large, complex construction projects, with a focus on hyperscale data center work. The position prepares, maintains, and analyzes project schedules, develops and reviews baseline schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM), and closely monitors progress to ensure timely and successful project delivery. The Project Scheduler leads and supports a scheduling team, collaborates with cross-functional project departments, and drives early identification and mitigation of schedule-related risks throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and supervise the scheduling activities of the Scheduling group, including Scheduling Engineers, project staff, and consultants assigned to one or more construction projects of varying size and complexity.
- Oversee and perform day-to-day scheduling activities, including monitoring and tracking project progress, and preparing both summary-level and detailed project schedules.
- Develop full Critical Path Method (CPM) logic-generated baseline schedules for large-scale construction projects, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the project execution plan.
- Communicate the project execution plan clearly to project stakeholders and monitor performance against the original baseline schedule and prior monthly forecasts.
- Identify schedule risks early and support the development and implementation of mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Develop and maintain the construction schedule across all project phases, from RFP and project launch through substantial completion and final turnover.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, and Construction teams to prepare detailed, integrated project schedules that reflect the work plans of each department.
- Work closely with Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) teams to integrate BIM and 4D models into the project schedule and support logistics planning.
- Integrate Last Planner System (LPS) methodology into the construction project schedule to enhance planning reliability and coordination.
- Perform monthly progress updates, including preparing narrative reports that explain schedule changes, variances, and impacts to the project.
- Create target comparison schedules and periodic look-ahead schedules to support short-term planning and proactive issue resolution.
- Ensure that scheduling data, updates, and reports are accurate, timely, and effectively communicated to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Use scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and related tools to build, update, and analyze project schedules for large-scale construction projects.
- Support continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools, and reporting within the business unit.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
- 8+ years of project scheduling experience on large-scale construction projects, preferably data center projects with values greater than $100 million.
- Strong proficiency with project scheduling software such as Primavera P6.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing CPM-based baseline schedules for complex construction projects.
- Proven ability to monitor, track, and report on schedule performance, including preparation of summary and detailed schedules.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional project teams, including Preconstruction, Commissioning, Procurement, Construction, and VDC.
- Ability to integrate scheduling activities with BIM and 4D modeling workflows.
- Experience incorporating Last Planner System (LPS) methodology into construction schedules.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify schedule risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear schedule narratives and present schedule information to stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to work on-site at the Buckeye Lake data center project near Columbus, Ohio, on a traveler basis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with mission critical or data center construction projects.
- Background in hyperscale or large, complex construction environments.
- Familiarity with additional project controls tools and scheduling software beyond Primavera P6.
- Experience working on self-performed construction projects of significant scale.
