Database Developer
Position Overview
The Database Developer supports the design, development, configuration, integration, testing, migration, and optimization of data components for the FMCSA BOAT/low-code application environment. This position is responsible for ensuring that application data is properly modeled, stored, retrieved, secured, migrated, validated, and available for workflows, reporting, analytics, and external system integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain database structures, schemas, tables, queries, views, stored procedures, and data models.
- Support integration between the BOAT/low-code platform, FMCSA data platforms, external data sources, and APIs.
- Develop and maintain data migration plans, data mapping, data validation rules, and data reconciliation processes.
- Support metadata design for uploaded files, including narrative reports, images, videos, and other supporting documentation.
- Ensure data is properly associated with application records and case management workflows.
- Support persona-based reporting, analytics, and data access requirements.
- Prepare and manage test data for user acceptance testing and defect resolution.
- Optimize database performance, data retrieval, and data processing to support expected user volumes and system performance.
- Support security and privacy controls related to Sensitive PII, access control, retention, and data handling.
- Contribute to technical design documentation, data flow diagrams, interface documentation, and data dictionaries.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience developing and maintaining databases for enterprise applications, case management systems, low-code platforms, or cloud-based systems.
- Experience with SQL, data modeling, data migration, data validation, reporting data sets, and performance tuning.
- Experience supporting API-based data exchange and integration with internal and external data sources.
- Experience supporting applications in cloud-hosted or federal IT environments.
- Experience working with sensitive data, privacy requirements, and federal security compliance is preferred.
