  • Troubleshoot and repair semiconductor process tools, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems.
  • Diagnose issues with high‑power equipment such as 480V, 3‑phase electrical systems, checking for shorts and other faults.
  • Track and analyze equipment downtime, failure modes, and spare‑parts usage to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are available and to prevent line‑down situations.
  • Lead equipment modifications, upgrades, and new tool installations from planning through execution.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors to coordinate tool installs, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

  • Write, update, and maintain clear technical documentation, including maintenance procedures and recovery plans.
  • Support production teams to maximize tool uptime and throughput while maintaining quality standards.
  • Conduct equipment Fingerprinting, perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and establish equipment‑specific Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
  • Support evaluation and specification of new tool purchases, including installation planning and upgrade requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineering to ensure tools meet process requirements and performance targets.
  • Monitor equipment performance using SPC and other metrics to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including work with 480V, 3‑phase power and checking for shorts.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills on pumps, robotics, and associated control systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing semiconductor process tools, including vacuum and high‑vacuum systems.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on technical tasks on complex semiconductor equipment safely and effectively.
  • Experience with automation and control systems related to semiconductor tools.
  • Solid understanding of pneumatics and mechanical systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience working directly with process engineering teams to support process and equipment performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with SPC and equipment performance monitoring.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to diagnose complex equipment issues.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, production, vendors, and contractors.
  • Proven initiative, ownership, and adaptability when facing new technical challenges.
  • Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation, procedures, and recovery plans.
  • Competent computer skills for documentation, data analysis, and equipment monitoring.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of high‑power diode lasers and high‑vacuum systems such as MBE, PVD, IBD, and evaporation tools.
  • Experience conducting FMEA and establishing equipment‑specific SPC charts.
  • Experience in managing spare parts inventory and tracking failure modes.
  • Experience leading or coordinating equipment modifications and upgrades.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced, high‑tech manufacturing environment.
