NDE Level II Technician – PT & MT
Location: Houston, TX 77066
Pay Rate: $30.00–$34.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced NDE Level II Technician with documented Level II qualifications in both Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT). This position is responsible for inspecting welds, fabricated components, and industrial materials to identify defects and ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
The ideal candidate can perform inspections independently, accurately evaluate findings, maintain detailed inspection records, and follow established safety and testing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PT and MT inspections on welds, fabricated components, and industrial materials.
- Set up inspection equipment and follow approved testing procedures.
- Conduct visible and fluorescent penetrant testing and wet or dry magnetic particle testing, as authorized.
- Identify and evaluate surface and near-surface defects, including cracks, seams, laps, and other relevant indications.
- Interpret inspection results according to applicable codes, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain quality documentation.
- Verify inspection equipment condition, calibration status, and performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, technical drawings, and inspection procedures.
- Communicate inspection findings to supervisors, quality personnel, and production teams.
- Follow all safety procedures, chemical-handling requirements, and PPE guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance to Level I technicians or trainees when authorized.
Required Qualifications
- Documented Level II qualifications in both PT and MT under an employer's written practice based on ASNT SNT-TC-1A.
- Hands-on experience performing PT and MT inspections in an industrial environment.
- Ability to independently conduct examinations and evaluate indications within the authorized Level II scope.
- Knowledge of inspection procedures, acceptance criteria, and applicable quality standards.
- Experience preparing and maintaining inspection reports.
- Ability to read technical drawings, weld symbols, and inspection instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience inspecting welds, piping, pressure vessels, structural steel, or fabricated components.
- Familiarity with ASME, API, AWS, and ASTM standards.
- Experience with fluorescent and visible dye penetrant testing.
- Experience with wet fluorescent magnetic particle inspection and portable magnetic yoke testing.
- Background in fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or quality control.
- Additional NDE qualifications, such as Visual Testing (VT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT), are a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in an industrial environment.
- Ability to handle inspection equipment, chemicals, and materials safely.
- Ability to distinguish relevant inspection indications under required viewing conditions.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment.
- Overtime or weekend work may be required based on production needs.
