This role oversees complex, multi-year SCADA and process control projects from concept through implementation, ensuring all systems meet defined specifications, standards, and performance requirements. You lead stakeholder communication, provide technical guidance on SCADA systems and data integrity, and drive continuous improvement through thorough documentation and process management. The position is highly collaborative and client-facing, with significant field exposure in new construction and large commercial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee SCADA and process control projects from initial concept through implementation, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and performance targets.
  • Lead weekly stakeholder meetings throughout multi-year projects, maintaining clear communication, alignment, and progress tracking.
  • Provide technical support and guidance related to SCADA systems, data integrity, and system performance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, and other cross-functional teams to enhance overall system performance and reliability.
  • Thoroughly document lessons learned and identify opportunities for process improvement across projects and deployments.
  • Contribute to process controls and process adherence activities to support consistent and repeatable project execution.
  • Participate in system integration efforts, including factory and site acceptance testing, and support QA/QC processes to validate system functionality and quality.
  • Support multi-trade commissioning activities in the field, ensuring coordinated and successful system start-up.
  • Serve as a client-facing project representative, building strong relationships and ensuring expectations are understood and met.
  • Travel to client sites for 1–2 weeks at a time with reasonable notice to support on-site project work, commissioning, testing, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Perform additional duties related to commissioning, documentation, and process management as needed to support successful project outcomes.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience with process controls or process adherence in a project or operational environment.
  • Project management experience with direct client-facing responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, including factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, or QA/QC processes.
  • Prior multi-trade commissioning experience in complex building or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and commissioning stakeholders.
  • Prior real-world experience applying process management or controls in practical field scenarios.
  • Field experience in the new construction or large commercial construction industry.
  • Certification or credential in SCADA or a software control platform, demonstrating technical proficiency in control systems.

  • Ability to document lessons learned and process improvements in a structured and actionable manner.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing, small startup environment with evolving processes and opportunities for impact.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including trips of 1–2 weeks, with expenses covered.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on improving system performance and operational efficiency.
  • Organizational skills to manage multi-year projects, competing priorities, and detailed technical documentation.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in Washington, DC, with regular travel to client sites nationwide. Travel may be up to 50% of the time, typically in trips of 1–2 weeks, with travel expenses paid. You work primarily in field and construction environments associated with new construction and large commercial projects, collaborating closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams. The setting is a small, growing startup, offering a dynamic atmosphere where processes are evolving and contributions have a visible impact.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
