Position Overview
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is seeking an experienced .NET / Power BI Developer to support application development, reporting, business intelligence, data analytics, and modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in C#, .NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core, Power BI, SQL, APIs, ETL processes, and dashboard development, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and support applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and .NET Core
Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, semantic models, and visualizations
Develop DAX calculations, Power Query transformations, and reporting solutions
Create and support APIs, web forms, integrations, and internal business applications
Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects
Support ETL, data transformation, reporting automation, and data quality initiatives
Troubleshoot application, reporting, database, and performance issues
Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Modernize legacy applications, workflows, and reporting processes
Provide technical mentoring and support to junior developers and staff
Collaborate with leadership, business units, and IT teams on reporting and data governance initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and .NET Core
Hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and visualizations
Strong SQL development experience including queries, stored procedures, and reporting
Experience building APIs, web forms, and business applications
Experience supporting web applications and web server environments
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Experience gathering and analyzing business requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience mentoring junior developers and support staff
