Job Title: Project Engineer

Position Summary

The Project Engineer supports large-scale, on-site construction projects at a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho, with a focus on mechanical and plumbing scopes. This role partners closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery by coordinating scheduling, communication, document control, procurement, and cost tracking. The Project Engineer collaborates with superintendents, forepersons, engineers, detailers, and leadership to deliver high- quality, profitable projects while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs to support accurate budgeting and profitability analysis
  • Assist with buyout and procurement of major equipment and subcontracts
  • Expedite and track deliveries to ensure timely project execution
  • Maintain working knowledge of contracts, including general conditions, scopes of work, and specifications
  • Manage and control project documentation in compliance with internal and contractual standards
  • Coordinate with field leadership to plan, schedule, and organize project work
  • Support development of integrated project schedules, including subcontractor coordination
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure accurate interpretation of mechanical and plumbing systems
  • Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including material takeoffs and man-hour budgeting
  • Support management of RFIs, change orders, and related project documentation
  • Promote and enforce adherence to all jobsite safety standards and programs
  • Utilize project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam, ACC, Smartsheet)
  • Develop understanding of construction sequencing, particularly for mechanical and plumbing scopes
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to support a collaborative team environment

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in project engineering within construction (mechanical or industrial preferred)
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and process piping systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with RFIs, change orders, and construction documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and collaboration tools (Teams, OneDrive)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple project priorities
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to workplace safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • (Relevant field experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • (Entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Procore
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Viewpoint Vista, Revit, Stratus, Smartsheet, and SharePoint
  • Background in mechanical or industrial construction environments
  • Experience in estimating, cost control, or change order management
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a mechanical contracting organization

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/hr.
