About the role
\n
A growing medical device company is hiring a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to own firmware for its next-generation device platform. You’ll develop mainly in embedded C on STM32-based hardware, working across real-time control, device drivers, BLE connectivity, bootloader and firmware update infrastructure, and CI/CD. You’ll collaborate with hardware, systems, quality, and product teams to take the platform from prototype through verification and into production.
\n
\n
What you’ll do
\n
- \n
- Design, implement, debug, and maintain production-quality embedded firmware, mainly in C
- Write drivers for sensors, pumps, fans, chillers, communication modules, audio, displays, and other peripherals
- Implement real-time control for temperature and fluid-management subsystems
- Configure and troubleshoot MCU peripherals (GPIO, ADC, timers, PWM, UART, SPI, I²C, DMA, interrupts)
- Integrate the embedded graphical interface (TouchGFX, C++) and BLE connectivity
- Contribute to bootloader, secure and over-the-air firmware updates, image signing, and production programming
- Diagnose system-level issues with debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Maintain automated build, test, static analysis, code coverage, and release processes
- Write unit tests and verification procedures, along with clear design and troubleshooting documentation
- Take part in design reviews, code reviews, and technical planning

Requirements
\n
- \n
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong professional experience developing embedded software in C
- Solid embedded fundamentals: memory management, interrupts, timing, state machines, and hardware/software interfaces
- Experience bringing up, debugging, and integrating firmware on physical hardware
- Comfortable reading schematics, datasheets, and hardware interface specs
- Familiarity with SPI, I²C, UART, and BLE
- Proficiency with Git (branches, pull requests, code review, merging)
- Able to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and communicate tradeoffs clearly
- RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, CMSIS-RTOS) preferred
- Embedded C++ UI development, ideally TouchGFX, preferred
- CI/CD for embedded firmware (CMake, Make, Docker) and automated C unit testing (Ceedling, Unity, CMock) preferred
- Bootloaders, secure boot, signed firmware, or over-the-air updates a plus
- STM32 ecosystem experience (CubeMX, HAL, CMSIS) a plus, and STM32N6 a big plus
- Regulated medical device software experience (design controls, risk management, cybersecurity) a plus
- Thermal-control, fluid-control, battery-powered, or electromechanical systems a plus
