- Be a safety champion and leader by ensuring all safety rules and regulations are adhered to.
- Assist and provide direction to craftsmen with equipment troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Requisition and approve inventory orders to control storeroom spend according to planned budget.
- Oversee craftsmen’s compliance with plant safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Lead development and implementation of continuous process improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
- Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals by effectively leading craftsmen to align on objectives.
- Lead safety efforts by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings, and coordinating maintenance related safety activities.
- Collaborate with planning and operations to schedule and execute daily preventative and corrective work orders while minimizing equipment downtime.
- Provide a safe work environment where all coworkers are valued, respected, and accountable.
- Maintains industry contacts (Equipment vendors) for the awareness of flexible packaging materials, converting processes, packaging equipment and process monitoring and controlling.
- Identify machine issues and resources for redesigns, upgrades, or modifications as needed.
- Provide feedback on department goals and individual performance.
- Continually improving maintenance’s effectiveness through planning, scheduling, documentation, purchasing, data management and job reporting systems to drive reliability growth.
- Develop cost and time estimates of planned maintenance work.
- Assist in the developing and managing maintenance budget.
- Make recommendations to adjust inventory levels based upon consumption and availability.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure JSA, Work Instructions and Procedures are updated and reviewed with the maintenance department.
- Effectively communicates change to co-workers and identifies barriers to change.
- Establish performance expectations and holds team members accountable for delivering company goals.
Job Requirements
- 2-year technical degree in a Maintenance related discipline or related work experience desired.
- 3-5 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance techniques in a multi-craft setting.
- Safety mindset with thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures.
- Great communication with the ability to adjust communication style across all levels of the organization.
- Able to exhibit a ‘can-do” approach and empower others to excel.
- Must be organized with great time management to manage multiple priorities.
- Training certification(s) in the areas of Planning, Preventive, Predictive or Reliability Maintenance preferred.
- Experience with a computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools.
- General knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Build a team culture within the maintenance department and production coworkers.
- Use sound judgment equipment reliability concepts, risk management strategy and practices related to plant and equipment to minimize equipment downtime.
- Able and competent in root cause failure analysis leadership and investigations.
- Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and other Microsoft software.
- Ability to work with extremely confidential information/situations and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated work ethic with a continuous improvement mindset focusing on the reliability of assets with a sense of urgency and ownership of the solution.
- Ability to conduct effective and efficient meetings.
- Ability to represent the company in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to show a positive attitude and respectful behavior and work cooperatively with all coworkers.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
- Regular exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals more than 50% of the work time.
- Some overnight travel by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed appropriate.
- Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies.
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
