NAVSEA Drydock Systems Maintenance Lead
Job Description
Job DescriptionNAVSEA Drydock Systems Maintenance Lead
At Everett Ship Repair (ESR), we keep the Pacific Northwest moving. Established in 2019 and headquartered on the Everett waterfront, we deliver comprehensive repair, maintenance, and conversion services for commercial vessels—especially workboats and passenger ships. With the U.S. Navy next door, we are deliberately expanding our capabilities and reputation to win more complex defense and commercial work. Join a team of seasoned shipyard pros who continuously refine methods into safe, efficient, and reliable processes.
A Day in the Role
Your morning begins with a status walk of the dry-dock systems—mechanical, piping, and auxiliary equipment—followed by a quick check of work packages and permits. You coordinate planned maintenance and in-progress repairs, verify materials are staged, and confirm safety controls for gas-free, confined space, and hot work. Midday, you’re inspecting critical evolutions, reviewing test and inspection plans, and clearing technical questions with drawings, TMs, and NAVSEA Standard Items. Before close, you update configuration and documentation, align on next steps in a production meeting, and support any audits taking place on the dock.
What You’ll Own
- Oversee and coordinate maintenance, repairs, modernization, and overhauls on ESR dry-dock assets in accordance with written procedures and schedules.
- Ensure strict compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items, Technical Manuals, drawings, and Work Specifications.
- Enforce OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety controls, including gas-free engineering, confined space entry, and hot work requirements.
- Track progress, manpower, materials, cost, and schedule; surface risks early and drive corrective actions.
- Inspect mechanical, piping, and auxiliary systems throughout dry-dock evolutions and document findings.
- Maintain configuration control, work authorization, and accurate records for all alterations and repairs.
- Review/approve job hazard analyses (JHAs), work control forms, and test/inspection plans.
- Lead or participate in daily production meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Identify growth work and technical discrepancies; collaborate with the Dry Dock Maintenance Supervisor to resolve.
- Support audits, inspections, and certifications by NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, and DoD representatives.
- Advance equipment readiness, quality assurance, and overall operational availability.

- Fluent in technical manuals, drawings, and work specifications.
- Clear communicator and effective coordinator across trades.
- Detail-focused problem solver with a commitment to safety and quality.
- Proficient with maintenance tracking, work controls, and documentation systems.
Security and Compliance
- Compliance with ITAR, export control regulations, and classified material handling procedures is required.
Working Conditions
