KēSTA I.T is actively seeking a Web Accessibility Developer for an immediate contract engagement with our client.
Job Description:
We Are Seeking a detail-oriented Web Accessibility Developer to support the auditing, remediation, development, and ongoing maintenance of websites, web applications, digital content, and electronic assets. This role will help ensure digital experiences meet established accessibility requirements, including ADA Title II, WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA, WAI-ARIA, and Section 508 standards.
The ideal candidate will combine strong web development skills with hands-on experience managing accessibility issues across websites, electronic documents, embedded media, and other digital content. This position will work closely with content creators, communications teams, IT professionals, business stakeholders, and external vendors to identify accessibility issues, implement remediation strategies, and establish sustainable practices for maintaining accessible digital content.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct comprehensive manual and automated accessibility audits of websites, portals, web applications, and other digital experiences.
· Use accessibility testing and auditing tools to identify violations, usability barriers, and areas requiring remediation.
· Analyze accessibility issues and implement corrective solutions across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, page structures, interactive components, and other web technologies.
· Ensure digital assets—including PDFs, videos, forms, graphics, presentations, images, and maps—meet applicable accessibility standards.
· Perform accessibility testing on both newly developed and existing web content.
· Review web pages and digital experiences for appropriate semantic structure, keyboard accessibility, navigation, labeling, and assistive technology compatibility.
· Apply appropriate ARIA roles, landmarks, attributes, and semantic HTML to improve accessibility.
· Manage, maintain, and update websites and custom components within Microsoft SharePoint environments.
· Develop and modify SharePoint templates, web parts, page layouts, and custom integrations to support accessible user experiences.
· Configure and update CSS and JavaScript integrations while ensuring custom functionality remains consistent with accessibility requirements.
· Evaluate existing SharePoint components and identify opportunities to improve accessibility and usability.
· Remediate accessible document issues using appropriate PDF and document-authoring tools.
· Collaborate with content creators, communications professionals, IT teams, developers, and third-party vendors to resolve accessibility issues.
· Provide guidance and practical recommendations to non-technical stakeholders regarding digital accessibility requirements and remediation practices.
· Develop and document repeatable accessibility processes, standards, and procedures to support ongoing compliance.
· Assist with developing internal guidance, training materials, and best practices that promote continued accessibility compliance.
· Manage multiple accessibility remediation efforts simultaneously while maintaining established deadlines and quality standards.
· Monitor evolving accessibility requirements and recommend improvements to digital development and content-management practices.
Required Skills
· 2+ years of professional experience as a Webmaster, Front-End Developer, Web Accessibility Specialist, or similar role.
· 2+ years of hands-on experience managing and developing within Microsoft SharePoint Online and/or SharePoint Server environments.
· 2+ years of experience applying accessibility standards and guidelines, including:
· ADA Title II requirements
· WCAG 2.1 and/or WCAG 2.2 Level AA
· WAI-ARIA
· Section 508
· 2+ years of experience with front-end web development using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
· 2+ years of experience working with responsive web design concepts and accessible user interfaces.
· 2+ years of experience identifying, evaluating, and remediating web accessibility issues.
· Experience developing or modifying SharePoint pages, templates, web parts, layouts, or custom components.
· Experience applying semantic HTML, ARIA roles and landmarks, and accessible web structures.
· Experience with accessibility testing methodologies and manual and automated accessibility evaluation.
· Knowledge of PDF accessibility remediation tools, including Adobe Acrobat Pro, or comparable software.
· Knowledge of creating accessible documents using Microsoft Office applications.
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, Graphic/Digital Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple accessibility and compliance projects while meeting deadlines.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical accessibility concepts to non-technical audiences.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Willingness and ability to share accessibility expertise and contribute to the development of sustainable internal processes and practices.
Preferred Skills
· Experience with accessibility auditing platforms and automated testing tools.
· Experience remediating accessibility issues across complex enterprise websites and web applications.
· Experience supporting accessibility compliance across electronic documents, multimedia, forms, graphics, and other digital assets.
· Experience developing accessibility standards, procedures, job aids, or training materials.
· Experience providing accessibility guidance to content authors, developers, designers, and business teams.
· Familiarity with accessibility considerations for interactive tools, embedded content, and mapping or data-visualization components.
