About the Organization

Our client is a fast-growing, Maryland-based youth development nonprofit that delivers mentoring and academic programs built on long-term, trusting relationships with young people. After a few years of strong growth in its home county, the organization is preparing to expand its programs statewide. With a budget of roughly $1 million and a few hundred youth served, it is now adding a high-energy, mission-driven Development Manager to help carry out an ambitious strategic growth plan.

Position Summary
\n
The Development Manager will bring an energetic, creative, can-do attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. As one of the organization's first dedicated development hires, this person will play a pivotal role in executing fundraising strategy and donor engagement practices.

As fundraising revenue grows, the role is expected to evolve into a Senior Development Manager position with responsibility for managing fundraising staff and overseeing development strategy, with a clear path to a Director-level role.

What You'll Do
\n
Donor Engagement & Fundraising Strategy
\n

- Partner with the CEO to implement fundraising plans aligned with long-term revenue goals, and develop donor strategies and engagement plans that build lasting relationships.
- Work with the operations and engagement leadership team to develop donor communications, appeals, and case materials.
- Build, maintain, and grow a portfolio of monthly and mid-level individual and corporate donors and prospects through in-person and virtual meetings and personalized outreach.
- Identify and qualify new prospects and develop cultivation strategies.
- Support board leadership, the CEO, and the Development Committee in board engagement and fundraising accountability.
- Collaborate with leadership on stewardship events and with program staff on donor site visits.
- Set measurable goals, evaluate fundraising performance, and identify opportunities to strengthen results across all revenue streams.
- Build and sustain relationships with donors, funders, community leaders, and partner organizations.
- Represent the organization at networking, community, donor, and partner events.

Data & Operations Management
\n

- Maintain accurate, timely CRM records for all donor and prospect activity in your portfolio.
- Report monthly on pipeline and progress against organization-wide fundraising benchmarks.

Qualifications
\n

- Bachelor's degree.
- 4+ years of professional experience in fundraising, sales, or business development, with demonstrated success in significant revenue generation.
- Track record of achieving ambitious fundraising and/or sales goals.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing donor databases or CRMs.
- Event coordination and grassroots campaign experience is a plus.
- Creative, strategic self-starter who thrives in a growth environment.

Compensation, Benefits & Schedule
\n

- Non-exempt, full-time (hourly).
- $70,000 – $85,000 annualized, commensurate with experience, plus an incentive bonus of up to $10,000.
