Senior Manager, Search and Discoverability
Job Description
Job Description
Our client helps businesses be found where their customers search, scroll, and ask.
They are a team of digital problem-solvers who combine deep expertise, practical systems, complete transparency, and a relentless focus on measurable results. Across SEO, paid media, social, programmatic, content, web development, analytics, automation, and AI, they help our clients turn digital visibility into accountable growth.
They serve more than 90+ clients nationwide, including sophisticated organizations, growth-minded businesses, and agency partners. They care about business outcomes, and they expect their team members to bring curiosity, sound judgment, honesty, and ownership to the work.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Search & Discoverability to lead their organic search and emerging AI-discoverability practice.
This is a senior, client-facing, hands-on leadership position for someone who can connect technical SEO, content strategy, digital authority, analytics, AI, and marketing technology into one accountable growth system.
Search is no longer limited to ten blue links. Customers still use Google and Bing, but they also ask AI assistants questions, interact with generated answers, discover brands through social platforms, and move between multiple digital environments before making a decision.
You will help our client and their clients succeed across that entire ecosystem.
This role primarily owns organic search and AI-powered discoverability. You will work closely with Paid Search, Content, Web Development, Analytics, Social, and Client Strategy to create integrated programs.
You will lead people, clients, strategy, and systems. You must be equally comfortable presenting a discoverability roadmap to an executive team, diagnosing a technical search problem, reviewing a content strategy, coaching an employee, and building an internal workflow that makes the entire agency better.
What You'll Own
Search and Discoverability Strategy
· Own strategic point of view and service roadmap for organic search, answer-engine optimization, generative-engine optimization, local search, and AI-powered discovery.
· Build strategies that connect technical SEO, content, structured data, digital authority, entity signals, brand reputation, user experience, and conversion.
· Help clients earn visibility not only in conventional search results, but also in AI-generated answers and other emerging discovery environments.
· Translate search-engine, platform, and consumer-behavior changes into clear recommendations instead of reacting to every headline or industry trend.
· Lead technical initiatives involving crawling, indexing, rendering, site architecture, internal linking, structured data, migrations, redirects, performance, and analytics.
· Establish practical frameworks for content quality, topical authority, brand expertise, citation readiness, and information architecture.
· Prioritize work according to expected business impact—not activity volume, vanity metrics, or tool-generated task lists.
· Create measurement systems that connect visibility to qualified traffic, leads, revenue, customer acquisition, and client growth.
AI Systems and Internal Innovation
· Identify high-value opportunities to use AI across strategy, research, analysis, reporting, quality assurance, content workflows, client communication, and agency operations.
· Design and build reusable AI-enabled workflows, internal tools, agents, prompts, templates, automations, and knowledge systems.
· Move successful experiments into documented, repeatable processes that can be adopted across teams.
· Establish quality-control and human-review standards for AI-supported work.
· Evaluate emerging tools based on usefulness, accuracy, security, scalability, and client value—not novelty.
· Train employees at different levels of technical confidence and help teams change how they work.
· Create a practical internal AI roadmap, including priorities, adoption goals, governance, documentation, and measurement.
· Quantify the impact of new systems through time saved, improved quality, faster insights, stronger client outcomes, or increased capacity.
Team Leadership and Quality
· Lead, mentor, and develop search and discoverability professionals.
· Set clear expectations, performance standards, and quality-control practices.
· Build a team that is technically strong, commercially aware, curious, accountable, and comfortable with change.
· Create consistent methodologies without forcing every client into the same strategy.
· Review complex strategies, audits, deliverables, and recommendations before they reach clients.
· Manage team capacity, priorities, assignments, timelines, and escalation points.
· Recruit and onboard additional talent as the practice grows.
· Remain a player-coach who is willing to get into the work when a difficult problem requires senior expertise.
Client and Commercial Leadership
· Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to key clients and senior client stakeholders.
· Explain complex search, data, and AI concepts in direct business language.
· Lead strategic presentations, planning sessions, executive reviews, workshops, and difficult client conversations.
· Set appropriate expectations about timelines, uncertainty, investment, and likely outcomes.
· Help create scopes, proposals, audits, roadmaps, estimates, and new-business presentations.
· Partner with account leadership to improve client retention, expansion, satisfaction, and measurable value.
· Help productize new search and AI-discoverability offerings without turning the work into a one-size-fits-all package.
· Contribute to pricing, forecasting, staffing, utilization, and profitability decisions for the practice.
· Represent Jubilant through thought leadership, industry participation, presentations, and client education.
What We're Looking For
· At least 5 years of meaningful experience in SEO, organic growth, search strategy, digital discoverability, or closely related discipline.
· Agency experience managing multiple clients, priorities, industries, and stakeholder groups at the same time.
· Deep knowledge of technical SEO, content strategy, information architecture, digital authority, local search, analytics, and conversion.
· Expertise on how brands are surfaced, summarized, cited, and represented by AI assistants and answer engines.
· Demonstrated experience building AI-enabled workflows, automations, internal tools, or operational systems.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to separate meaningful signals from noisy data.
· Fluency with web analytics, search-performance data, crawling tools, competitive research platforms, reporting environments, spreadsheets, and content-management systems.
· The ability to connect search metrics to business performance and explain that connection to executives.
· Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-consulting skills.
· Experience creating repeatable processes, documentation, standards, and quality-control systems.
· Strong project-management and prioritization skills.
· Commercial judgment, including an understanding of scope, capacity, profitability, retention, and client value.
· The confidence to challenge assumptions, including your own, without creating unnecessary friction.
· A builder's mindset: when a process is broken, repetitive, unclear, or unnecessarily manual, your instinct is to improve it.
· Comfort operating in a growing agency where leaders must move between strategy and execution.
Especially Valuable Experience
· Building systems with APIs, no-code or low-code platforms, data warehouses, scripts, or custom AI applications.
· Creating internal agents, knowledge bases, automated research systems, or reporting pipelines.
· Leading SEO or organic-growth programs across a large portfolio of client accounts.
· Developing answer-engine optimization or AI-visibility measurement programs.
· Working closely with developers on technically complex websites, migrations, or platform changes.
· Leading content, digital PR, reputation, or authority-development strategies.
· Participating in new business pitches, account expansion, pricing, or financial planning.
· Helping a team adopt a major operational or technological change.
What Success Looks Like
During your first year, we expect you to:
· Establish a clear, differentiated vision for our client's search and AI-discoverability practice.
· Assess the existing team, clients, services, tools, processes, and opportunities without disrupting what already works.
· Implement a consistent strategic planning and quality-control framework across accounts.
· Give priority clients measurable roadmaps for conventional search and AI-powered discoverability.
· Improve the connection between search reporting and business outcomes.
· Build and launch practical AI-enabled systems that employees actively use.
· Reduce repetitive work while improving the consistency and quality of strategic thinking.
· Develop the capabilities and confidence of the search team.
· Strengthen collaboration between Search, Content, Web Development, Paid Media, Analytics, and Client Strategy.
· Contribute to stronger client retention, organic growth, service revenue, and practice profitability.
